Are Your Glutes Weak? Find Out With This Simple Test! -MoveU

Показать описание
This muscle is probably weak on you! Activating the glutes is something that many people who join our program really struggle with. It takes time to learn how to connect your brain to your glutes to be able to use them in things like squats, lunges, deadlifts, and bridges. Yes, the glutes will always activate when you do those movements, and with practice, you can learn how to maximize their potential. By doing so, you will stabilize your lower back, pelvis, hip, knees, ankle, and foot. If you have pain in any of these areas, learning to activate and strengthen the glutes will be a lifesaver for you… and they will look great!
The single leg bridge is actually a difficult movement. If you maintain a neutral spine, level pelvis, ribs boobs pulled down into the belly to align the core, shoulder blades pulled away from the ears, and keep the foot straight with the toes gripping and the arch engaged, your glutes will have to do a majority of the work. Yes, the quads, hamstrings, and lower back will also be used, but the goal is to have the glute do most of the work here.
Many people cannot do this. What do you do if you cannot? The double leg bridge that I do at the end of the video is the alternative. Put a band around the knees and maintain the cues that I listed above. At the top of the bridge, if you tuck the pelvis posterior(try to flatten the lower back), the glutes, hamstrings, and abdominals will be doing lots of work rather than your lower back and quads.
If you are reading this after watching the hip impingement test this week, then you may fail this test as well. The two issues go hand in hand. Work on your bridges with the cues above.
