Look everyone. All these years between complaints. In Fallout 4 you don't scrap like in Fallout 76. It doesn't work that way now and it didn't work that way when the game was launched. You store the junk and its automatically broken down when you build something. If you need aluminum for a chair then it breaks down aluminum cans from your stored junk. Plain and simple.

It only scraps it when you build shit. Doesn't help me for the contraptions dlc. I want all my materials in raw form. So let's say im crafting .50 I can go grab the exact items i need
Not a military grade circuits board and things containing the items i need

As others have said, This does not scrap your junk, it STORES your junk.
If a different settlement (that doesnt or cant have a supply line) needs 21 oil, This method you have to hunt through hundreds of items seeing what scraps into oil and counting out 21 oil.
What I want, is to scrap ALL my junk look though a list that says 'oil' and just grab 21 of it. You can do that if your junk is scrapped. You cant do that if your junk is stored.

it does however it doesn’t break it down into separate useful components. For example if you have an item that gives (2) copper and you build an item that takes only (1) cooper it will actually use up that item and both pieces of copper with it. Therefor you lose 1 copper. It will do this with any and all items you store in the bench. That’s why it’s good to scrap them all separately. There are mods dedicated to fix this issue because you will actually waste so much materials because of this oversight.

That doesn't scrap anything, it only stores it. Nothing gets scrapped until you try to build something *at that settlement* and there isn't enough of a particular raw material. And it's useless if you want to take specific raw materials to a different settlement.

This doesn't work on the PC version. I literally have hundreds if not thousands of junk items in Sanctuary and nothing is used. If I bring up build a turret and I only have 1 oil in the workshop and 500 oil based junk, I can't build. Seriously I've tried scores of times. I guess I'm stuck finding a mod for it.

it doesn't break it down so you can see it as the material in the workshop for easy picking it just uses it as you need it from the junk. this is useless if you are doing it to make ammo or something else. you have to look through every piece of junk to see what it has that you need? f that

Storing these objects makes their base resource components only available in the settlement they're stored in. To share their resources with other settlements they must be broken down the slow way. Great video, title should read "How to store all your junk at once"

It's basically not scrapping it. When transferring building components from one settlement to another, it's easier to scrap them first. I threw everything on the ground, and started scrapping. At the end, I lost many component types, probably clipped into the ground, never to be found again. I had to open an old save, write down the component and amounts I lost, and used cheats to recover it all. There should be an easier way to scrap all junk.

When you break it down one at a time your base build size bar goes down so you can build a bigger base

That doesn't help with the conveyor belts :/ wish their was a quicker way to break the items into components

Heu that istores it and yes you can use it to build BUT it is not scrapped

Sooo let's say I wanted to build somewhere else. It only stores in that specific workshop right? So I'd have to remove everything and bring it to the next location if I wanted to build something somewhere else?

If you put all your junk in the workshop, then when you build stuff you lose a lot of materials.

Yea scrapping doesn’t arouse me the way it used to anymore…..obviously I mean sexually
