This is a glitch, but if you like Lone Wanderer perk and Dogmeat, you can use the welding goggles or the bandana that spawn in the house at 9:18 to equip to Dogmeat and increase his carry capacity above 100. Dogmeat is never supposed to have more than about 40 carry capacity but equipping him with any armor will allow you to go above 100 while still maintaining the Lone Wanderer benefits. In Survival mode, this is a godsend.

I never seen that buried chest or knew about the one in the lake. Here's another bit of advice. You need to trade 3 fusion cores to get inside Vault 81. The vendor there sells cool stuff. After you grab the fusion core in the mole rat cave, you can get your second fusion care in museum of freedom, and your third fusion car at starlight drive in settlement, it's sitting on a shelf in the back room of the giant theater screen wall. All these locations are pretty close.

A little bit of cheating, if you never enter the mole rat den below Red Rocket, the streamer trunk near water tower will always spawn new loot after you leave the area. Weapon or amour inside always have mod leveled with you. For survival, glowing fungus in front of the den entrance also respawn along with other loot like oil can

Some extra advice: unless you are on survival mode, I recommend you grab everything in vault 111 and around the outside of it. Yes, even the junk. Then before heading over to sanctuary, make a go out the left gate and follow the trail to a hill with a little tent and table set up overlooking the vault. There will be a purified water and two dirty waters. Then go to sanctuary and scrap all your junk, clean out the bugs, and cook all the raw meat you collected for some quick starter items

That control room for the vault elevator always has a Nuka Cola in the corner. It’s great because in survival it resets some of your sleep meter. Take a left at the house where you got the quantum and there’s an open house. Second floor always has a sniper rifle though it can fall down to ground floor if it spawns before the collision mesh. Behind the house is a parking lot with a random encounter area. There’s a van with a couple bodies and random loot including a chem box. Depending on the random encounter there may be other random loot. 😃

The Satellite Station Olivia has a couple of looting locations. One is near the crashed Vertibird, a couple of containers scattered there can yield ammo or healing items while the other is at the edge of a Molerat nest( you'll see molerats walking atound plain as day in a flat area ). There's a shed with a bathtub with container in it... usually healing items and ammo box as well.

You missed the military bag behind the statue on your right just before you cross the bridge into Sanctuary.

South of Red Rocket is a tunnel containing a mole rat den. It has some good early loot including a fusion core. However, if you can stand to not going into that tunnel the loot outside the entrance is on a quick respawn that I have milked for at least 50 levels. Outside the tunnel is a brain fungus, 3 glowing funguses, a wooden box with a fire extinguisher and 4 tools, a table on wheels lying on it's side with a couple more tools, a couple of oil containers, and a coffee cup.

Each time I walk out of Sanctuary I make a run down to the tunnel entrance, gather loot, head for the Northern Wild mutfruit bush in the hedge west of that first house, step thru that turn south gather 2 gourds and the Southern Wild Mutfruit then turn east and north for the other 3 gourds, go thru the door and turn right (south), get the sugar bomb off the top of the overhead cabinets, continue south a step or two, get the pork and beans of the top of the fridge, open the fridge, get the nuka quantum and the sugar bombs, (the first runthru has a caps stash in the oven that does not respawn) then turn east and head for the front door. There I pick up the baseball bat then go upstairs to gather the loot off the top of that short dresser, and if I have a point in lockpicking perk I can open that wall safe. Turn for the northeast corner for the chems container, then down the stairs and out the door. I continue my run thru the wooded lot across the street to the playground where I get the kickball from under the spaceship slide. Then I head north past the playground, thru the gap in the fence and loot the red toolbox under the stairs, go up the stairs and into the house. Behind the door is a First Aid kit and the fridge has some sugar bombs on top and so other pre-war food inside, turn east and gather more pre-war food off the kitchen counter, then around the corner to a suitcase with loot and sometimes the drawers under that, then east to the next set of drawers which is a sometime thing also, then north to pick up the loot off the bedside table and the safe under the bed. And out the front door.

That wooded lot between the two loot houses has 3 stands of Hub Flowers that are on a slower respawn rate.

Now you stand near the Northern entrance to Concord to continue where ever you want to go but with a few repeatable pieces of loot to get you started. All because you didn't kill a few mole rats to pick a single fusion core. Now go get the oil from the front of the Super Duper Mart in Lexington and rob the bank across the street.

The chest between Red Rocket and Abernathy farm in the grave resets very quickly if the Mole Rat Den isn’t cleared out. Like you go over to Wicked Shipping from Red Rocket and by the time you get back it’s often refilled.

I love the place that you went to last. That place is great, I always leave the door open, and because I play survival a lot I have to walk a bunch. That house spawns VERY fast, and is a great source of early game loot. Or just a renewable source of sugar bombs (2 in the kitchen) and quantum/nuka's and chems. I always pick the lock, and get the loot/xp, with the added bonus that many companions like me picking locks. Another place to hit is the very similar house that looks over the parking lot nearby. There is also a few chems, a safe, and a dead raider upstairs with a pipe sniper rifle. It's also a nice place to snipe a few enemies that sometimes spawn at that parking lot at the beginning left edge of Concord. If you go over the hill at that parking lot is the drive-in that is my favorite settlement location. So many places I can build

Its one of the games I play every year and has to be survival mode. One thing I always grab is a military helmet in a armoured vehicle in the water surrounding Sanctuary. Helmets seem rare early on, you can normally cobbled together other bits of armour. Can't afford to use the power armour in every combat and found I was getting killed with lucky head shots.

That's the great thing about this game. So many different ways to go about your quest. Your way is similar to mine and then I head for Bunker Hill to buy the Spray n Pray off of Cricket. My fav weapon.

I got lucky one of the first few chests I found had a fat man and some mini nukes and then went and joined the brotherhood of steel so decent armor and weapons right off the bat and didn’t even worry about any combat perks went straight for master lock picking and hacking makes looting trivial lol

I've played multiples playthroughs and 100s of hours of Fallout 4, but I'm not much of an underwater explorer, so I didn't know about that trunk in the lake. You pretty much hit every single good spot for the best start except that I can't believe you forgot to point out that dufflebag at the feet of the Minute Man statue just outside Sanctuary, almost as soon as you clear the bridge. It's always filled with useful goodies for a starting character: weapons, armor, and ammo.

on survival, the first aid kit just outside the vault may contain at least one antibiotics. Sometimes you might even find three but that's pretty rare.
