PLEASE do not try to take them from the wild. They've been facing possible extinction for years and the only way that they've managed to remain wild is because of the protection. That is why people captive breed them!

I got my axolotl in a water bottle. Someone abandoned her there as a baby with a note saying “take it” she’s 8 now and living a very happy and healthy life

In Nahuatl (the Uto-Aztecan language), the “x” is always pronounced with a “sh” sound. That’s why the word “Mexica” sounds like “Mesheecka.” But “Mexico” is still pronounced with an “h” sound since it’s pronounced in Spanish rather than Nahuatl. Just FYI.

Can anyone notice the similarity between Aztec and Egyptian Gods? In Egypt the God of death is Anubis and Axolotl is the God of death in the Aztec culture and both are represented as dogs. It can't be a coincidence.
