If your dude morphs and your conditions are fine, please do not stress out. Occasionally axolotls will morph without explanation. It’s rare but it happens.

I have two morphed axles, and they did it naturally. Their tank was fine, their tank mates didn't morph, it was actually a father and a son that morphed, so I suspect that it's genetic. They're both very healthy and basically just weird colored tiger salamanders.😊

Axolotls are so beautiful, and yet so endangered—thanks to us careless humans, who polluted their habitats and drove them all the way to the fence of extinction. Good job mankind, for adding another innocent animal to your growing list of near extinct and completely extinct species. Here's to hoping we can bring back these underwater beauties before it's too late.

To explain, Axolotls are just Salamanders that never reach the final life stage, so they have it in them to be a Salamander, but this is really bad for them and should never happen.

Axolotls will sometimes morph even if you do everything right, they still morph like salamanders and newts, they’ve just adapted to delay it, most of the time
