I was diagnosed with PNES 3 years ago and mine are caused by complex PTSD and severe trauma. I had an abusive childhood an traumatic experiences like physical abuse, rape and molestation by 10 abusers) I suppressed the memories then got them back through nightmares/night terrors in my highschool years, still never had any major injuries or seizures up till this point in my life but a experience at 19 confronting the rapist who traumatized/affected me most caused a massive trigger and my seizures started. Therapy and weed are the only treatments that work for me and when in the first year they were every other day between 5-10 a day but now 3 years later they are only 1-3 times a day and I get them only once up to 3 times a week and sometimes have long periods of a week or week and a half seizure free now.💜SeizureWarrior

Just discovered this group. My seizures began at age 54 in my sleep. It resulted in a three day coma and full intubation. ( this was during Covid lockdown in central CA. 3 years later it’s being called “epilepsy “. I have had a nightmare experience in trying to get quality care.

Losing memory, losing my driver’s license, losing my independence have been horrendous, humiliating! ( feels like losing my mind).

My dad gets these when he sees doctors (not always) I'm guess it's a lot of anxiety. He gets really hot and sweats so so much! Than he goes unconscious and shakes for a bit. When he come back hes very very tired and kinda weak. Still a little sweaty. He talks as if hes waking up from surgery. Within an hour hes good to go besides being just a little tired. Can anyone relate and share their stories. Please and thank you all!

If you have had many terrible stressful situations in your life well which one caused this seizure disorder? And why when a neurologist tells you about these kind of seizures you feel that they are dismissing you, offering no help, telling you it’s something else but they don’t know, get a smirk on their face and in their voice because you have waisted their time by being fake. It’s so insulting they tell you to find right kind of doctor to help you but they have no one to suggest.

I have attacks very time I go to the doctor's office. They often make them worse, because they make it a big show.

Is there any evidence that they are caused by emotional stress? Or is that just a guess that doctors are making? I know high fevers cause seizures and drug overdoses etc cause seizures. Their is obviously different things that can cause them but why do they think it's emotional stress that trigger non epileptic seizures? And if so why don't we feel the emotion after or before the seizure?

I was just diagnosed with both non-epileptic seizures and epileptic seizures.

I use exposure therapy to cure this traumatic condition and it works! My methods may be considered unconventional or unorthodox but it works!

Is this a person faking a seizure? For example, would it be very unlikely to die or experience lasting physiological damage like you can with real epileptic seizures?

If an extreme threat became known, would they immediately snap out of it and flee with everyone else?
