Treating psychogenic seizures: CBT-IP

William Curt LaFrance, MD, MPH, FAAN, FANPA, DFAPA, Brown University, Providence, RI, discusses how psychotherapy is an effective treatment for psychogenic seizures. The therapy that has been shown effective is a multimodal therapy called cognitive behavioral therapy informed psychotherapy (CBT-IP). CBT-PI incorporates many types of psychotherapy to target the cause of psychogenic seizures. The therapy consists of many different sessions including communication, psychoeducation, distress tolerance, and acceptance. This interview took place during the Virtual World Congress on Controversies in Neurology (CONy) 2020.
