It happens because density of ice is less than water so when water freezes to ice, it takes comparatively more space or volume than it was occupying in liquid form

It's absolutely hilarious that he thinks icebergs in the salty oceans are the same as melting ice in a cup. Because icebergs are made of freshwater it actually slightly raises the water level when they melt inside of our salt water oceans.
