Neil is absolutely right. I'm a Software Engineer. It's a daily part of the job to do peer reviews on our colleagues work. Peer reviews are how we ensure the quality of work. I've gotten in heated arguments with my colleagues over the facts of the work, but the arguments were based on computer science, not feelings.Terrence stepped into a world where it's customary to get reviewed, but was unaware of the custom, and walked away with hurt feelings, instead of being honored to have his work reviewed by one of the GOATS of science. The fact that NDT would take the time to review his work in the first place is an honor in and of itself.

The problem with "Just asking questions" is you have to know what questions to ask and you have to understand the answers.

Doing a peer review is sometimes taken as a personal attack. You took your time to review it, he took it as an insult. You don't have time to review everyone's theories. Terrence received what most of us will never get.

“It’s possible to know enough about that subject to *THINK* that you are right, but *NOT* enough about that subject to know that you are wrong.” This was by far the best way to say it in the most respectful way, with no harm intended.

Kudos to Neil deGrasse Tyson for this respectful and well articulated critique. Easily, he could have dismissed the pseudo-science treatise as unfounded but instead took the time to review this document by Terrence Howard and provide constructive analysis. Total class and professionality!
