What a concept: as an intern, learning first and adding value later, potentially. If only that was a thing that happened everywhere...

As a Swedish guy I do not agree, we dont only eat meatballs... I mean, we do pretty often but not all the time.

Yo, I'm not gonna lie, I treat all the interns like weaver and not like crown.
I'm going to now change.... thanks crown.

This is true for student teachers too. Unfortunately. Thanks Crown for reminding me what kind of mentor I want to be. 😊

I teach all my interns as much as I can and I treat them as if one day they will be my boss, because it may happen. I treat them in the same manner as I want to be treated in the future.

Take care of your employees and they will take care of your customer. It isn’t hard people. Love your work.

For some reason this gives me flashbacks to working in the mailroom, most partners were all “thanks, you guys look busy, is there anything else I need to do?” And newbies were like *puts giant stack on counter* “my secretary is gone can you do all this for me”

Interns are a great resource. They do not know everything yet so at times they can solve the problem as they look at it from a lay persons stance where us whos been doing this long time can over complicate it

Exactly what corporate companies should do to newbies. If you are a new person on the job, it is so unfair they expected you to know how the company works immediately.

Instead of training the newbie. The newbie is there to learn

I was very lucky with my IT internship, the location wanted to see what I knew, and had asked what areas I'd like to learn more about. They actually hired me for an open position

I’m interning at my first company and I have meetings with my boss 2x a week and it’s probably the most I’ve learned outside of school in years. We sit there an have work sessions and you feel like you’re having a 1:1 masterclass

Thats how new hires should be treated! ❤️ Though it is a big gamble asking a foreign client to try a local version of their native dish. I don't think there would be a high success rate in taking a high profile Chinese or Indian national to their respective local restaurant which has adjusted their flavours for locals... Especially when the guests nation has such a broad spectrum of cuisine. I think the greatest impression would be made from takinf them somewhere you can give them the best of what local food could be. Give someone an experience they cant have, rather than what might be a copy of something they may enjoy. You wouldnt take a car enthusiast from Japan to see the one Nissan Skyline GTR in Kentucky, (albeit a very cool Japanese car) you take them to drive a Corvette.

I personally hate the idea of interns, I like apprentices, I think everyone with 10 years of service should take one on, it should be paid and new blood is new ideas so if we train the next generation we'll have less to complain about later.

Yup, everyone can contribute to make the work easier, even the interns trying to learn something. Just because someone doesn't know how to do your thing, doesn't mean they don't know anything
