The five most powerful ships used by the UNSC in the Halo Universe, are, in no particular order:

The UNSC Infinity: A 5km long behemoth created with the best human and forerunner technology available.

Epoch Class Heavy Carrier: One of the strongest dedicated carriers in the UNSC Fleet.

Valiant Class Super Heavy Cruiser: A very powerful fleet command ship. A ship of this line, named the UNSC Everest was used by Vice Admiral Preston Cole during the Battle of Psi Serpentis.

Autumn Class Heavy Cruiser: Based off the Pillar of Autumn, a famous modified Halcyon Class Cruiser featured in Halo CE.

Punic Class Supercarrier: The most powerful ship available to Humanity during the Human covenant war, this ship had two powerful MAC canons.

You know what I really appreciate? That part that's mentioned where the Infinity is the most powerful ship fielded by *modern* humanity. Not much is said about ancient humanity's ships, but one must assume they were far more powerful than what the UNSC has at the moment.

My favorite parts of the Halo books was reading about UNSC tech, strategy and ONI information. Whether it was the ships, basic tech, training programs, black ops by ONI, etc. It was my favorite parts to read. I hate that 343 went so over the top with the Forerunners and this prophecy stuff that the Chief was destined to save the galaxy. What made Halo great in the beginning to me was that it was grounded in reality. To can picture the human technology in this universe cause its base tech is stuff we see today and are trying to develop. I liked at the start of the Halo universe that theForerunners were a mystery. A super powerful and intelligent race but we didn't know alot about them. I liked the idea of them being a race so smart that they were above destroying each other and wanted to protect the universe. They tried to save it from the flood and sacrificed there whole species to stop it. I loved the mystery on how they created weapons that could destroy the universe or atheist had the ability to develop weapons like that but were smart enough to know that no one should hold that much power atleast until they had no other options against the flood. But then they had to write theForerunners back into life with the Didect and librarian. And now have all these forerunners popping up to fight humans. It ruins it for me so I stick to the old books. I love reading about the UNSC and ONI. Parangowsky is my favorite and love the black ops stuff she does. Reading about the space battles like the Keyes maneuver was awesome. Reading about the Spartans 3 training with the SPI armor was awesome. Even learning about the Elite home world and their way of life as warriors was great. But I can't do the knew stuff that is so forerunner heavy. I wish that it stayed grounded like it was in the past. Fighting the covenant was awesome. Fighting forerunners is not. This is just me bitching I know but the Halo universe has been one of my favs since I played Halo when it first came out and for the first time I was hooked on a game world that I had to go out and buy the Fall of Reach when I saw there was books for Halo. I never done that before but I was hooked. Reading it in like two days then re reading it as soon as I was done. The getting First Strike, then Contact harvest and Cole protocol, Grasslands, Thursday war and so on. I loved them all. But I can't get into the forerunner saga . idk how the majority feel but I wish it would go back to the world pre 343 studios. But I give the credit that they did come up with some great weapons for UNSC. Something I wished they would have done for the Halo games more. When in universe the enemies you face take alot of fire power to take down, it makes no sense why squads of marines are not outfitted with a light machine gun (SAW) like they would be in today's world. Or high caliber assault rifles not just reserved for sniper rifles. More sub machine guns and heavy ordnance. Something like a striker shotgun in today's world would be perfect in Halo. And it would even be more powerful. Imagine fighting the flood with a automatic shotty. It be so fun. Updating halo a bit to be able to have a little control of the marines and helljumpers who fight next to chief, so can perform basic tactics like cover fire, suppressing or recon. Being able to outfit a squad for a mission. Updating guns should have been UNSC first priority. You can use same guns in a war against high tech, super strong alien races who been bred for war with same guns you were using to battle rebel humans with no hardcore armor or shields. A rail gun should have been first thing since you had the tech for your ships you could have made it for soldiers. Better assault rifles with grenade launchers. More light machine guns, better ordnance such as artillery, mortars, air strikes. Imagine being able to call down a Mac cannon round, archer missle attack against covies or even a napalm attack against a field of flood. I never understood why at the very least they didn't have mini guns on vehicles. Yeah I know they had a 50.chain gun but that should been a light machine gun for Spartans in a war like this. Idk its just what I think. Not like it matters. Maybe I should try and write my own story Haha. It will suck but atleast I can see how some stuff would play out in my head.

P.s. there be no way in hell that the military would ever quit using jet aircraft like raptors and use strictly Hornets which are more helicopter. In this world a air force jet would destroy a banshee because of speed alone. No way is a banshee even doing a fourth of its top speed. I know they have longswords and whatever the ones were in Reach but they were only ever used in space. On the ground besides having Spartans, today's military seems better outfitted to take on covenant than the army in halo set 500 years from now.
