If I remember correctly, the banished managed to cripple the Infinity because the front of their ships had an oversized gravity hammer built in.

Basically the Infinity played Grifball and lost.

You can see that Infinity didn’t have its shields up, probably from the ambush attack from the Banished.

It lost only due to plot. They needed a reason why the chief was brought to one knee. Had to show how badass he is by having his ass beat but coming back from it. Something like that.

Honestly it’s a real shame they just got rid of the infinity so quickly like that. It’s such a ridiculously powerful ship to see it fall so quickly just didn’t make too much sense and was kinda lame

A fully fresh UNSC Infinity conducting a surprise attack on an unsuspecting warship vs a UNSC Infinity low on personnel and resources that was engaged in a suprise attack after being on the run for months against Cortana. It’s dangerously hard to run a super carrier with around half its crew.

It wasn’t so much HOW the Infinity went down that pissed me off. (Brutes just saying “fuck it” and ramming it with a bunch of ships makes enough sense) but the fact that we didn’t get to see any of the buildup, play an opening mission as Chief defending the Infinity, giving Us, the player, buy in to what was going on, and a level of hope that we could turn this around, only for that cutscene to play where Atriox kicks Chiefs ass, leaving the player feeling actually defeated.

But without that, the cutscene just seemed like a cop-out.
“Quick, get rid of all of the star players and do a sloppy reset to copy paste Combat Evolved!”

Literally the only reason the banished even managed to take down the UNSC Infinity was because Cortana was doing 99% of the work

NGL as fun as Infinite's multiplayer is the campaign was very lackluster. I also did not enjoy how we got no context on how Atriox got there or why they were fighting over Zeta Halo/why Cortana was there. Big improvement compared to Halo 5, but a toaster is an improvement to Halo 5 so. I will say that the ART is absolutely stunning and finally felt like halo unlike 4 and 5.
