Orthodontic Rubber Bands - If Not Worn As Instructed

orthodontic forces need to be continuously applied to the teeth in order to be effective. If rubber band is not worn as instructed teeth constantly rellaps to their original place.

You extend your treatment time by doing this. You get used to it and don’t notice discomfort within a couple days, if you keep taking them off, you have to keep “getting used to them” again

Got them today. I don't feel any pain, just a slight pressure. Only bad part is that you can barely talk (depending on what elastic type you have.)

I have a powerchain on the top with the heaviest elastics and holy moly, my whole face hurts and my cheeks and sinus areas are swollen.

Lmao it’s worse when you have a thicker a wire + thicker elastics + and your braces just got tightened. Imagine the pain of that haha

I didnt know the "wear it every day only taking it off to eat" instruction was thar serious, good thing i saw this just like a week after getting them, i keep forgetting to put them on after eating

I have 4 extractions, and each are being closed using power chains and closed coils, and now I have to wear these rubber bands and my bite feels awkward cause my teeth are not aligned :) but its all gonna be worth it..
