Hands down the best adaptation of Anne of Green Gables. Megan Follows will forever be the superior Anne for me.

Awww, I never wanted it to end. At 13, in 1985, I loved this movie so much I'd dress like Anne around the house (in my baby sister's bonnet), pick weed flowers and try and recite the Lady of Shallot just the way Anne says it. It may be a Canadian classic, but I was Anne in Australia.

Anne With An E got me, somebody who never grew up with the story, to fall in love with these characters. Now I've discovered that it was my grandmother's favourite childhood story (it's very similar to her own life story), so now every version of this story feels like I'm close to her. I'm so glad that these wonderful, magical characters have been passed down the generations.♡

I remember my mom and I would check out this movie free from the library. We would check it out every week to watch over and over. We were very poor and couldn't afford to rent VHS movies (the 90s). As a child, this movie opened up a world for me, that I still remember to this day. Such a beautiful, wholesome story.

I was 12, unable to understand English. Every Saturday night, I stayed up, with my parents' permission, to watch this show with subtitles. I was fascinated by the story, score, cinematography, and the exquisite Canadian maritime countryside before I had the vocabulary to describe my feelings.

I'm a 47 yo male and proud to admit that this is my favorite book, and this adaptation was the best ever done. Casting was marvelous! Megan=Anne period.

Without a doubt, this was the absolute best Anne and also Marilla. Probably Anne of Green Gables in particular is one of the few series that I will remember for the rest of my life and every time you get melancholy. It was played so beautifully.

Megan Follows is such a phenomenal actress. Truly brought Anne to life 💓 Did not even recognize her as Queen Catherine in Reign because she transforms so completely

I just finished "Anne with an e" and I am so sad of its end that I am desperately searching for all the movies / tv series created over the years. I can't watch any other movies except with those actors! :(

The first short novel i ever read was when I was 8 years old and it was Anne of Green Gables. Im an aboriginal Australian so a white ginger person is basically the opposite of what I am. (Dark skin dark hair and eyes) but I remember from kindergarten that I thought gingers were the most beautiful people that I'd ever seen and I think reading Anne of Green Gables had a very big impact when it came to that. I still think gingers are the most beautiful people and its just more proof that opposites really do attract sometimes. I eventually snagged my own ginger husband and ginger son!!! The more red and freckly the better I say!!!

Love this version, acting is so good, love all the characters, and keep faithful to the books unlike the new version, anne and Gilbert are so lovely together, no-one does it better will always be my favourite.
