If you've never seen seat latches like this, I'm assuming you've lived under a rock for the past few decades. This used to be pretty standard on cars. Also, a lot of base models still use a key to crank.

I'm glad they still make base models that you can customize yourself and put any radio you want without ruining the car functions

You should see the key as a major bonus. Your car probably will still be where you left it when you come back! Bravo to Subaru. And those caps on the fog light holes are just a way of using the same bumper cap for the base and upgraded model. Ford did the same on the older Focus. It also means that you can go to a wrecker's, grab fog lights off a fancier model, and the probably bolt right in.
