This book blew my mind! Short and sweet, and the first book I encounter that takes the topic of love with great seriousness.

Eric Fromm had a prequel to the "Art of Loving" titled, "The Anatomy of Human Destructiveness." Together, both of these books give context to the "Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders."

Fromm's book, Escape from Freedom, has amazing insight into human nature and freedom. His perspective of the psychology of Nazi's during WWII included in that book was eye opening.

You are spot on about the notes! Fromm always packs his books with vital info no “filler fluff” or insulation in this material for certain. This book has helped me since I first read it as a socially awkward and intentionally alienated 16 yo overcome both heartache and an abusive stretch of a mess. All his books I’ve found to be extremely helpful and very conprehensive
