I’ll hand her one thing - she was polite and calm. That’s class.

I never understood employees like this..like YOU can't even afford to stay there so why give other people a hard time

What really gave away the racism here was the phone call. She had to make the call in the public phonebooth and it's pouring outside.

they're so rich they just casually buy the hotel on the spot

Everyone started hating on this movie after the hype went down, but I'm still here and I'm still loyal 😭 I need the sequel NOW

The way young nick and Astrid smiles knowing what their families are capable of is the best thing 😎😎

As far as I can remember and if my memory serves me right, Eleanor terminated Ormsby in the novel version. That was satisfying.

The hotel was being ignorant..it was raining heavily outside, surely there should be a door mat or a service man to handle all those dirt

I appreciate she walked in and was just like any other guest at the hotel. She didn't act like a stuck-up rich person until they started acting like snobs to her.

in the book they emphasized the asian-ness of the family. they walked in the rain because they were too cheap to call a taxi, but insult an asian family and no expense is too great to establish dominance

My friend experienced this very similar at a company, that owns a lot of restaurants & bars. But, they found out 30 minutes later after a phone call they found out he is the director of customer service. They ended up getting fired.

Before she picked up the phone, i could tell what that guys did was deliberate discrimination, which was unprofessional for him and the hotel he works with. If he had done his job right he would still have it.

At first, I thought the receptionist is classist. But when he mentioned 'Chinatown' ... Oh no you didn't...

Damn, to buy a hotel so spontaneously like that must mean they're stupid level rich.

Funny thing is, with her wealth, she probably had many other options for clearing this up, including just outright bribing the hotel manager, and she probably wouldn't have needed to spend much in order to get him to budge. But nope, instead she decided to go with the more expensive but infinitely more satisfying route of buying the hotel and very likely making the duration of that man's career a living Hell.

So glad Michelle won the Oscar. She’s just brilliant in every role!

It isnt about money. It is about class. Even in the face of such racism and discrimination, she never lost her face. Never raised her voice even once.

I really did like Lord Calthorpe quite a bit. So very polite and English-ish.

This scene hit me quite hard. I am an asian and about 4years ago thanks to my father’s many buisness trips we were able to get buisness seats on a plane from America->Korea with milage.

We tried to go into the lounge but we were denied entry (we checked if it was a buisness lounge or first class lounge). They said something was wrong (to be frank they were talking BS) due to this we went back to the help desk and asked them where the lounge was that we needed to go was. They told us to go to where we were just denied.

What angered me the most was that the woman that denied us was an African American. African Americans like to talk about racial equality when in reality many of them are racist towards asians as well. They seam to think we can’t speak proper english. But most of us learn it from a very young age. I just wanted to get the word out thanks for reading
