'Crazy Rich Asians' Stars Talk Groundbreaking Movie

Constance Wu and newcomer Henry Golding talked with Ellen about being part of the groundbreaking film, which features an all-Asian cast for the first time in 25 years.

I feel like this interview started off bad when Ellen showed shirtless photos of the guy and then gave him most of the attention and ended with asking Constance where she’s from... could’ve been handled much better.

I'm not Asian but I'm in love with the movie! The movie isn't just limited to the people it centers and can be enjoyed by anyone. When I told one of my friends (who isn't Asian) that I was planning to see the movie, they were like "Ummmm why?" And surprisingly I got the same response when I told my other friend (who *is* asian). This movie isn't limited to anyone. Go see it!!!

The right question to ask is not “where are you from?”, but “what is your ethnic background?”. Don’t be surprised if someone gives you an answer you weren’t expecting when you’re asking the wrong question.

The audience barely laughed at their comments like they would usually do with other guests and didn't show much interest in a fully Asian film.. Shows that the racism isn't fully extinguished yet, after all these years.

Call me petty but I love how Constance answered that where are you from question. Ellen, maybe we should start asking white people where they’re from since the only true Americans are Native Americans.

I’m not Asian, But this makes me so happy I’m glad to see more Asian representation in the media ; especially an All Asian cast. Mayn it’s 2018 for god-sakes it’s a shame it took this long. GO POCs!!

But my mom's reaction was meh, she was like "I've seen that man on tv a lot."
