Ashley is a soil scientist who has had a passion for plants since she was a small child. In the long summers as a child, she would garden alongside her grandmother and it was then that she realized her love for greenery. With years of great studying, Ashley had begun her post-secondary education at the University of Saskatchewan.
At first, her second love, animals, was the career path she chose but while doing her undergrad she realized that her education would take her elsewhere. And with that, four years later she graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with a bachelor’s degree in science and a major in Soil Science.
Some of Ashley’s interests are YouTube, in which she posts informative videos about plants and gardening. The focus of Ashley’s YouTube channel is to bring science to gardening in a way that is informative but also helpful to others learning to garden. She also talks about the importance of having your own garden and the joys of gardening indoors. Ashley continues to study plants in her free time and hopes to expand her YouTube channel as well as her reach to up-and-coming gardeners.

This year my garden I'm getting the best harvest ever (everything growing big). I grew more than 22 different variety of vegetables and lots of fruits. With no fungus or mildews. All I do it is get a bucket, throw all my kitchens scrapes such as, garlic peels, onions peel, potato peels, banana peels, orange peels, apple core, and other etc. Fill it up with water, let it ferment for 6-7 days and apply it as a fertilizer. I started using this method this year and my plants grows like magic. No more buying fertilizer or pesticides as this method work both ways.

Thanks was about to use milk. 1 thing...your whey is from cheese making using renet which makes it sweet whey. 50:50 is fine even straight. But whey from kefir and yoghurt etc is acid and needs to be watered down more. 30:70. I don't make cheese but I do make kefir. 😊

THANK YOU for this tip! I just tried it in my garden this week (yes, even in August I'm battling powdery mildew...we're a chilly zone 3b here, close to a zone 3a region, so we're not getting hot enough consistently enough even now to discourage its growth). I tried your trick this weekend, but with some plain Greek yogurt mixed in water and it worked great! I saw a massive difference that same evening after applying in the morning. By the next day growth EXPLODED. I wish I'd known this years ago!

Found you through the Canadian Prepper! As a newbie gardener, I am so glad to have been introduced to you and your channel!! I've learned more in just a couple videos than I have watching many other garden channels.

It's the lactose in milk products that decomposes in sunlight into lactic acid compounds that act antiseptic. Baking soda also can be used as an alternate. Changing leaf surface pH either low or high kills mildew. PureCrop1 is expensive but works well on PM indoor.

Love that your putting out this info on fighting a common pathogen with simple, organic methods. I use the whey from the kefir i make for myself since it also has a lot of lactobacillus on top of some others. I have used diluted milk to fight pm. I add some baking soda to it to make it a little more effective but, it works. One of the biggest factor i have found in battling pm in my indoor crops is humidity swings and spikes. Can't really control that outdoors but, the lactobacillus helps prevent pm a bit too. Thanks for the good stuff

I've used 30 gallons of V-D milk Aldi's so far directly among the garden, yesterdays cold wet overcast days here in CNY I found a very small spot on a Hella Jelly this morning it was the next scheduled plant to harvest and well I whacked back the foliage and just got thru bud washing it, peroxide 1st then lemon juice & final fresh rain water rinse it's hang drying under my canopy now and it will be hung in the dry room in a few hours.
