Distance Rate Time Word Problems – Currents, Airflows, etc

How do you solve those crazy distance word problems? It's distance = rate times time, but what do you do when there are upstream/downstream currents or upwind/downwind airflows in the mix?

I'll take you through this type of distance problem and show you everything you need to know to solve it. For more examples of distance problems (like two cars leave different cities heading toward each other, two cars leave the same city at different times, etc.) then please go to part 1.

6:20 is a bit confusing. B = boat’s speed, not boat’s speed in still water. Did you mean that the boat’s speed in still water = boat’s speed? If so, that makes sense as the boat’s pure speed is done through still water.

It was confusing that 3C = B but I think I get it now. It was a bit vague

I liked that this was a more difficult problem. I didn't figure it out on my own before you showed how to do it, but that's OK - I learned something about how to set things up to eliminate a variable.
