According to Crimestoppers South Australia, in this part of the country alone, about 10% of homicides remain unsolved each year. Although this is a small minority, this number builds up. There are now around 113 unsolved cases in South Australia, dating back to the 1950s. Although we are constantly advancing our forensic techniques and fine-tuning the investigative process that the police go through, it’s a simple and sad fact that some cases will never see a resolution, but that won’t stop true-crime sleuths and law enforcement alike from trying. In today’s video, we’ll be exploring Two Horrifying Unsolved Cases from Australia.

The amount of times you hear about a police investigation being well below standard - or in this case non-existent - is disgusting.

Police and politicians are the only two jobs on the planet where you get to decide whether you want to do your job or not

All that evidence in the vehicle (blood stains, underwear and bleach) and the call by the guy who witnessed it all. The man in the arcade, who spoke to the guy that most likely took Jess and murdered her. The Police did NOTHING!!! Then ten yrs later they decide to do something and the evidence is destroyed by then. 😡😥😥 Poor Jess.

Can you imagine being the detective in 2007 diving into Sarah's cold case and realizing all of the physical evidence had been destroyed? I'd be ready to throw hands.

I saw an interview just the other day with Vanessa and Jessica’s mother. Jess’s mom made a comment that she just hoped that whatever happened to Jessica was over quickly, that she couldn’t stand the thought of her being tortured for days or however long. It was so sad! I can’t even imagine having to think like this about my own child and then never finding out the actual truth! Police definitely dropped the ball once again on that case! 💔

10 years. That's some seriously monstrous incompetence.

As an Australian, I am disgusted at the treatment Jessica and her family received from the NSW police. An eye witness says she's been abducted and it takes them 10 years to act? Too little, too late. Total disgrace.

Poor Jess didn't stand a chance if the police didn't even lift a finger to try to rescue her 😪

Such a sad reality that so many cases will never be closed!

On the second case, it sounds a bit like Fergus took advantage of the situation to get rid of both his mistress and his wife. The islanders may well have been afraid of him.

It seems that in both cases it's quite obvious who the perpetrators are. The police work is absolutely shameful in both, as well.

Re Jessica, the man suspected of being involved who denied being at a he arcade then bank records proved he was. So how EASY would it be to PROVE he owned While Holden Comodor at the time ???

Thank you Cold Case. I had been quietly hoping you would cover Jessica's case at some stage, i her think her murder is devastatingly but entirely worthy and needing of it. Hopefully this may find that missing piece or person to break it open again. Amazing job x

You would wonder how many undiscovered bodies are buried in the outback a lot i would expect it's very easy to cover your tracks in a place as large as Australia.
