How to improve your Typing Speed

In this video, I am going to show you how to improve your typing speed and hopefully get to 80-100 WPM

The QWERTY keyboard wasn't intended to slow people down (some people could type very fast on old manual typewriters). It was invented to prevent jamming of the bars which had the keys on the ends which would hit the ribbon which would hit the paper. If commonly used combinations corresponded to the adjacent bars they could become locked together.
It was the position of the bars which mattered, not typing speed (which could be quite high).
My first typewriter was a manual, my second was an electric which still had the bar mechanism. The last typewriter I had was an electronic with daisy wheel (I hated that machine).

The best way to type fast is to learn the keyword. You need to practice matching letters to finger - the letters F and G has small marks so you can lay your index finger of each hand. That would be your default start. so, the pinky finger types Z, A, Q - Ring finger types X, S, W, middle finger types CDE, and index finger types V, F, R, T and G. Well, you can figure the right hand. Practice, practice, practice, so you can remember the keyboard with looking at it. If I can do it. You can do it. Good luck. The thumb hits the space bar.

But the qwerty keyboard was not made to slow people down, it was carefully made so that you would almost never hit keys that were placed next to one another because this could cause a mechanical problem in typewriters in which the keys would jam. I've heard that there might be some benefit to switching to dvorak but i think its too small for you to have to learn a whole new keyboard layout.

Great advice, looking 2 to 3 words ahead will surely improve my wpm.

I am trying to get my typing speed up to at least 80 wpm.

We dont learn 10 Finger typing in school which is very bad so I thought it myself and now i can type around 60 words per minute (I do it for 2 Weeks now and I'm struggeling with english a bit cause my mother language is German

I don't use DVORAK, or homerow. But, I made my own strategy that helps me average 130 on some websites.

I will give this a try, I currently can write about 52 wpm, not very fast. I would be happy with to average 70-75 wpm. Thank you!

My average is like 77-85 WPM, personal best is 123 WPM, I wanted to try dvorak but alas, it's not very suitable for day to day use ... for French. Maybe should try BEPO

heres the problem... i type faster without looking than when i look... how do i fix that? my accuracy is so bad when i look at my screen and keyboard but when i look away i can type faster with better accuracy for some reason.

In school they have tried to properly teach me how to properly type for like 8 years i still do peck typing but for some odd reason i use me pointer and middle finger on my right hand

if you want to learn how to touch type i recommend this site called typingbr and after you have a base understanding of how to touch type i recommend going on type racer over anything else really so you can get comfortable with, .?;:' "-etc with all the punctuation keys
