We all know sleep is important. It can affect your mood and body weight, but now we're learning those aren't the scariest risks of not getting enough rest.

New research shows not getting enough sleep can increase your risk for dementia. The link between sleep and dementia is nothing new, but researchers were previously unsure if the lack of sleep was a symptom or cause of mental health decline.

Now, researchers are confident that people who don't get enough sleep are close to 30% more likely to be diagnosed with a cognitive disorder in later life.

Doctors say sleeping pills are an OK temporary solution but they don't give you the deep sleep needed. Naps are OK but they're also a sign you aren't getting enough sleep at night.
