My friend was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer in 2006 and she had a double mastectomy. The surgeon removed more than 30 lymph nodes. In 2008, the cancer had spread to her brain. Long story short, in 2023, thank God, she she's still alive. Shannen, please continue to fight. I pray the radiation treatments are successful and you have many more decades of life

She is 1000 percent correct. Once people find out you have cancer they treat you like you have the plague. I watched people do this to my mom. They would cross streets and grocery store aisles to get away from her. People need to understand if you have cancer you can still function you can still work your not lying in a bed all day.

This is so sad ... and relatable. I was diagnosed with Clear Cell Renal Carcinoma during the height of the pandemic and kept getting told that there were no available beds. I needed a week in hospital for recovery but was sent home repeatedly and was told they would monitor the tumor every 2 months. Being claustrophobic as well the MRIs and scans plus CT guided biopsies were lengthy to say the least ... I spent 5 hours one day having to be taken in and out of the MRI due to panicking. Every test I had it showed that the tumor had grown 3 times in 6 months and they were still giving me the runaround until I finally demanded to see another surgeon. Which I got. And when he looked at all my results he had me in for surgery 3 days later to remove the tumor and most of my right kidney. I hate to think where I would be if I listened to the first surgeon who seemed more concerned with Covid than my cancer. Always advocate for yourself because nobody else is going to do it for you. I often wonder how many people fell through the cracks in our health care system during the pandemic. I wish her peace and love.
