Linux Mint 21.2 is Nearly Perfect…

Linux Mint has long been one of the most well-rounded Linux distributions that strikes a balance of new features and stability, and provides a superb user experience for both new and long-time Linux users. 21.2, recently released in Beta, is bringing significant changes that push the Linux Mint experience even closer to perfection, but it also poses some interesting questions and concerns about the future of Linux Mint.

I just stick to Linux Mint Cinnamon and let the upgrade manager do it's thing. As long as it works, I don't have to worry about it.

Mint/MATE is the perfect distro for me: clean, stable, well tought update strategy, works great on my AMD ryzen 5 boxes with integrated graphics. Zero problems. Thans to the Mint team: serous people, great tech. Better for money or love. Cheers from Nuuk, Greenland.

Thanks for a nice view into where Mint stands. It was my first go-to about a decade ago when I finally screamed "stop the madness" and removed m$ from my own computers, although I had toyed for years with dual boot before that using various flavors of linux. I have moved on to other distro paths, but I still have a fond place for mint in my heart.

I just installed mint for the first time on my old asus laptop. It was a smooth install. I really like the out of the box compatibility. For example it is easily possible to switch between the graphic units( intel, nvidida). That's a nice feature. Also no problems with touchpad, keyboardlayout, etc. Thanks to the devs!

I just upgraded from 21.1 to 21.2 Victoria and I'm truly impressed. I actually learned first to theme the desktop to my liking and I'm loving it. Feels really stable, good looking and sharp.

Many thanks for a well-done review. Using Mint 21 at this point with the Cinnamon desktop, which combo makes a retired MS Windows user happy. In no rush to upgrade, but have and will test on the test-bed system.

Its the the best distro for "doing stuff" but there still a lot to be desired. Like boot times, file manager ecc.

Mint 18 was my starter distro. i like it. i switched from cinnamon to mate for a slight speed boost. ive moved on to MX Linux, Manjaro, and fedora but if someone was asking me what they should try first i wouldnt hesitate to tell them Mint, with any desktop.

If you right click on any folder in "home" you can choose ANY color you like for that folder . So you can have a different color for every folder in home!

I haven't used Mint for a number of years, but I've enjoyed the reviews of 21.2. It looks good! I've grown very used to GNOME and wouldn't even consider switching from Ubuntu except for the snaps, which are very slow to load. Mint would probably be where I go if I switch.

One of the absolute best Linux-versions imho for newcomers. You can break it of course but then you usually know you are doing something sus to begin with. Remember to turn Timeshift on.
