The Worst Item In DST

Had questionnaire done a while back to see what the worst items in Don't
Starve Together is. I feel the seedshell is probably the worst item in the game.
Honestly not feeling to well about how this one came out but Its out now I hope you enjoy!

It’s actually a great substitute for weather pain against giant tentacle and woven shadows. Oh, and also those bird things during the lunar events

I honestly can't think of anything that could make this item better, because it just exemplifies how badly sea content was implemented.

Maybe they can be used against the Ancient Fuelweaver? I don't know if they can hit the unseen hands, but they can help clear out the woven shadows. Although at that stage weather pains are probably just better.

I feel like the value of seed shells is that they're a byproduct of collecting something more desirable. Like, say you're doing a sea base in the early game and killing a few seaweeds at night for some easy food, the seed shells can be traded for sea birds to get even more food for the trouble, or can be used to get a bird for your birdcage without going to the mainland just to farm spiders. (Although how you got said birdcage without the reeds from a swamp is another story). They're basically free birds every time you kill a seaweed, you just have to go through the effort of throwing them at the birds.

That being said, come on Klei, let us stuff seed shells with gunpowder for grenades.

we need a seedshell launcher or maybe walter should be able to use them as ammo for his slingshot

You missed the fact that you can use them to put holes in boats! This can be useful against pirate raids if you have yet to get the cannon blueprint! Much cheaper than panflute fighting or cannons anyway.

I feel like it'd be cool if they did their old damage, but we all know some walter main will find some trick with them, and make them way too op

That's still more useful than glommer's wings, which have literally no purpose

Maybe for wortox players, you could put 20 butterflies and a seedshell into a bundling wrap for a "medkit". Although don't know about the timing on if you could pick up the shell and kill them before they move away

I think the intention is for it to be a type of boomerang substitute for when you are seafaring or doing a ocean challenge. For example, getting aggro from malbatross or a narwhale.

I usually use them to label a backtrack watch to know what clock teleports me to the seaweeds so I can farm barnacles.

To me the most interesting part is stunning animals at range. I’m not sure it need to be a good weapon on top of that because that gives them a pretty unique use.

Admittedly, it’s a pretty useless use at the end of the day and I can’t see it coming up very often, but I like that it’s mechanically unique. It gives the DST science nerds something new to play with at the very least

The miss part isn't as relevant as you make it seem because it's really a matter of proper aiming. Instead the problem is in low range, it takes forever to farm, and above all else the damage is reduced below 25. I don't know what klei are thinking but I'd rather have a weapon than a weird capture device. Also, they deal 75 damage when plants use them so you know...
