As a wx main, the eyebrella is really important as a tiny bit of wetness is deadly if ignored in spring

I like the dark sword late game, because at some point, you have so many living logs that you can just keep a stack on you at all times, and you don’t need to hold pigskin anymore because you’ve got the eyemask/crowns. When you’re raiding the ruins, having two inventory slots dedicated to nfuel and living logs is necessary anyways and it’s just a lot nicer to not have to worry about spoiling meat and decreasing damage on your hambat

I definitely agree with most of these, and the only reason I would really use the dark sword as my main weapon is if I play Wormwood because of how easy it is to produce living logs, it would make sense to use them as often as you can

Kinda agree on the Panflute, outside certain bosses it's not something I would carry around. Dark Swords are good mid game when the resources needed come plenty and you don't need to babysit your Ham Bat spoilage and also stop the pigskin/meat usage every few days. Eyebrella just comes pretty much for free tho so I don't really see a reason not to use it unless playing with more people.

I wear the Tam for the drip, there's nothing to wear when not dealing with the world casualties anyway so not having to go out of my way to up my sanity is neat. If I want to be insane I just use the Lazy Deserter (underrated imo, -15 sanity per use for free is just great).

I personally never leave my eyebrella in spring or summer, 240 heat insulation or 100% of rain protection for head slot is amazing. For tam o' shanter I often forget to use it after the first year, because you still have to warm yourself while wearing it so I just prefer carrying a stack of logs and torch and for sanity 6 bullkelps do the work. I agree with night sword, its sanity drain adding up with negative sanity auras of bosses makes it unusable for me, I simply use a hambat or tentacle spikes. About panflute i've been told it's so valuable that I save it for boss cheeses etc except I never actually get that far.

The eyebrella is a bit of a reach - there isn't a better item for surface summer and for spring (if so, name one candidate) + it is very cheap. If you have an eye sitting in your chest, i'd rather make eyebrella than eating the eye. I wouldn't go out of my way to spawn more deers though.

It might be just easier to carry the ingrediences for dark sword than for ham bat. For ham bat you need meat (which spoils), pig skin and twigs (twigs you might want to carry anyway, but maybe not in lategame). For dark sword you need living logs (when playing wormwood, you have them on demand) and nightmare fuel (you usually have both, when venturing into the ruins, you can carry 8 dark swords in two inventory slots + nightmare fuel you very often need for other stuff like for magiluminescence etc...). Dark sword increases damage for Maxwell's followers, and i'd rather be carrying that than thurible. And it has a lot of uses outside of bosses - splumonkeys, monkey pirates, minibosses, clock works - it will make your fights easier. I personally opt for the ham bat most of the time, because i visit my base often and i enjoy the durability, but if i wasn't, i'd opt for carrying living logs and nightmare fuel.

I agree with tam o shanter and with pan flute. But even those are great in specific playstyles and challenges - tam o shanter would be the best item (realistically speaking, otherwise it would be the celestial crown) for your 5/1/1 challenge and panflute is the 2nd most OP item in PVP.

This video in a nutshell:
"I don't really use this item, aside from [insert all of the situations the item was designed for and is commonly used in here]"
Like really dude.

The pan flute can also be used to get the terrarium (sleeping the guardians so they don´t disturb you) as well as analyzing some enemies as Wx-78 (Dragonfly, Bee Queen). Moreover, the Powder Monkeys can be slayed with ease by sending them to sleep temporarily and then perpetually one by one.

I personally use eyebrella because it is useful in 2 seasons and I usually have eye of deerclops. In winter I use Tam o' Shanter only if it drops, but I defeat MacTusk only for the tusk, and if it doesn't drop I use buffalo hat. I use night swords because in mid game I have tons of living logs and additional damage can always come in handy. I like using panflute very much but it is difficult to renew I often leave it for bosses but if for example you play Wickerbottom then a sleepytime stories book is very useful and you can also use it quite creatively because it is easily renewable.

absolutely disagree with all of that.
First off, eyebrella. It is the most useful item in rain protection since most players would normally need backpacks for the extra inventory and cane/tool/weapons for handslot, hence the raincoat/umbrella+helm combos are just cheaper alternative but had significant downsides whereas the eyebrella does not. Even for new players I would strongly recommend the eyebrella for working on base/resources and/or traveling. The only occasion that you would need during rain for fighting is a body armour which does not hurt for most players.

second, the tam o shanter. Yes, the minimum sanity aura is not much and yes, you gain sanity from food and killing nms. But here's the thing, tam o shanter is not only a very good winter clothing, the very little bit of sanity aura does matter for casual players who do not want to get insane as quickly and does not get enough sanity from food (you would most likely be eating max 2meatballs per day as normal char which is 10 sanity that's all)
Getting insane means fighting nms which you would not want to do when you're working on bases or you simply don't want to.

Third, dark sword is almost the most powerful weapon in middle-late game with a relatively affordable cost. 68 dmg meaning the highest dps weapon with no dmg multiplier in dst, with the only downside of draining small amount of sanity per minute. For most bosses and just general fighting in the game, dark swords are not only efficient dmg weapon (6800 max dmg per sword) but also efficient in space, since you can simply carry living logs and nightmare fuel to craft one when you need it.
That's my opinion for after playing 3800 hours of dst.

Pan Flute helped me tremendously when I was clearing up the monkey island. there are a lot of those nasty apes, and they aggro very fast when you hit one, and I also used dark sword to kill them faster. perfect combo for me

I find it most convenient when I carry around a stack of fuel and living logs on a bigger inventory threshold or anytime really. Since ingame there's a lot of creatures that need slaying to progress, it's better to make quick work of them than not. Also if planning to do any bosses you'll always be equipped with weapons to do the damage.

Dark swords are by far my favorite weapon for clearing the ruins (not ruins rushing). clockworks have enough health to make the extra damage actually useful, and the ingredients to make it take no extra inventory slots because you need to bring nf and living logs anyway. Another option is that you can just use a beefalo to fight enemies in the ruins, but I don't like doing that because I don't want my beefalo dying and also the bishops ranged attack always catches me off guard because I forget to wear armor on my beefalo.

Use rain cap and you pretty much continue the torching a tree play style of winter. You just need to find cover underneath a tree somewhere and burn anything nearby to lower your wetness again. During rain in spring you maybe do that once when you reached 30-40% on your wetness meter. At this level of wetness most characters (except Wx78) will be fine as your inventory wouldn't become wet until past 50%. In early spring you maybe get a bit cold though.

Ngl, as someone who spends 90% of their time on the cusp of insanity, especially early game to farm nightmare fuel, it gets really really annoying dealing with shadow creatures every day for a hundred or two hundred+ days. Eventually I end up with 2 chests completely full of nightmare fuel, and I just feel like wearing the tam bc I'm tired. Of course, it takes a while, a hundred days or more, for me to get sick of them, as they aren't that frequent or even difficult, but the peace of just doing what you're doing without having to stop for the shadows every so often just feels soothing after a long time of just embracing the insanity.
Also, my friend is a woodie main, so between us constantly being insane for a while and having so much nightmare fuel, and him farming so many living logs, we just end up using dark swords because of how cheap and easy they are at that point, much much easier to make/mass produce than tentacle spikes and don't have to be babysat for spoilage like the ham bat, a d I just end up using the dark sword for everything from spiders to pigs, and the tam more than covers the sanity you lose if you really don't want to fight shadows anymore.
Sorry for the long comment lol, I understand why you feel that way about the dark sword though, I have a friend who mains wendy and they usually just use a ham bat and keep it in an insulated pack, I don't think the dark sword is quite as strong for lower damage characters outside of bosses.

I agree with all of these. I would prefer a houndious shootious over an eyebrella usually if i feel like going to the ruins. It is also a neat perk of Wurt. There are other ways to counter spring and summer, where you want to get wet instead, so you can make a shootious instead.

Those items makes one elegant or rather by maxwell's quote "dapper". After looking bare during the earlier days of survival the addition of tamo, dark sword or eyebrella is a treat.

tam o' shanter, what else are you going to have on your head outside combat/ outside spring/summer?
"Waste of head slot" but what else is worth wearing ?
Panflute "Few boss fights" -- most of boss fights
