Welcome to the Learn to Sew | Beginners Sewing Course (Lesson 1A)! In this course you will learn the basics of sewing your own garments with commercial patterns. You don't need any prior experience as the course is designed for true beginners. If you've never touched a sewing machine before, are new the sewing, or need a refresher after years of not sewing, then this course if for you.

I walk you through the process as you learn how to sew your own clothes using step-by-step, very detailed instructions. The pace is slow, making it easy to follow along.

In the first lesson, we are making a circle skirt. If you don't want to make a circle skirt, you can watch the video to learn the techniques and practice on scrap fabric. Be sure to watch the videos in order, as each video builds upon skills learned in the previous lesson.

I suggest you watch this video in full before starting.

In this lesson you will learn the following:

3) How to Shop for Pattern, Fabric & Notions;
4) How to Pre-treat Fabric.

All that- is half the problem when you start
NONE of that was in the 1950-1990s "how to sew books".

People of today would be very lucky to find your videos! 😊

I'm so glad i found you. i've been making quilts for over 10 years but, my 5 yr old granddaughter wants dresses. We started with barbie size dresses. Now onto big girl dresses. it's difficult for a beginner garment sewer (at my age) to find classes. You are very informative, articulate and well versed. Glad I stumbled across your videos you took me back to my childhood days when going to the fabric store and pattern shopping with my mom and grandma was a thrill. I learned how to sew as a teenager then gave it up as life went on. After viewing this video might have to blow all that dust and cobwebs off my sewing machine and give it another spin.
