Wild salmon is way more nutritious than farm raised salmon. Because of the feed and environment the salmon are raised in they lack a lot of what makes salmon worth eating in the first place

I have tried wild caught salmon before md it's dry and fishy ( is that what you mean by "strong" taste/flavor?). Anyways, I got some from Aldi and giving it another try after watching a video that said only wild caught has omega3 because of the marine life it eats. Farm raised don't have much omega3 because they are fed pellets. Don't know which is true but am trying wild caught again.

Sockeye hard to find. Farmed available.

Ftr farmed fishing is widely considered particularly good for salmon specifically because of how important salmon are to ecosystems (most salmon are considered keystone species as far as I'm aware) with wild fishing there's more chance for overfishing because frankly modern fishing practices are currently not great and actively cause problems all the time. Fishing regulations are still poorly maintained and frequently misunderstood. That's not to say all wild caught is bad, but farmed fishing very much is more sustainable--if the fish farming is done well. There's always chances for abuse, but farmed fish at least aren't gonna cause an ecological disaster.

1. If you ever see “Wild Atlantic” salmon, that is fish fraud! Producers will use the term “Fresh Atlantic” instead to make the farm raised label with Atlantic to seem more appealing.

2. Sockeye salmon is also more fragile. It’s very easy to dent the flesh with your finger, and it needs to be cooked more gently than Atlantic. Most of the time sockeye will need to be de-pinned too.

3. There’s many more salmon varieties, but these are the most commonly found in stores, especially Costco!

So…. Yes, farm raised salmon is mostly definitely a bad thing. 1000% through and through, for you, for the fish and for the greater well being of BOTH of our species. I grew up in Alaska and have some very strong feeling about this subject, and would like to think I’m fairly well informed on the subject. If you have legitimate reasoning I would LOVE to hear it because I’m all for being informed but also, if you don’t, I would really really like to steer people in what I believe to be the right direction- away from farmed fish at all costs. If anyone is interested I would be more than happy to go more in-depth on this, but until then, remember! Friends don’t let friends eat farmed fish!!

Take an algae based DHA supplement and avoid the heinous cruelty of needlessly suffocating a sentient fish instead

Please dont believe this he is not entirely correct and is trying to sell you on sockeye wich is far more expensive and more often is farnraised when actually conpared to atlantic
