Teaching math to English language learners is two-fold because you have teach math content and language at the same time. Working with mathematical word problems help to stretch students to think in different ways. How to teach math to esl teens involves thinking about the types of strategies that enables students to break down a math problem and be able to break it down in an effective way. How to teach math word problems to esl students is a process that also involves modeling metacognitive skills so that students will know how to think about math. Math teaching strategies for middle school and high school will help students to refer to different ways to tackle a math word problem.

We're very fortunate as English teachers to be able to integrate other other subjects into our lessons. Doing it the right way is critical for success though, so I'm happy that you're on hand to teach these strategies. I especially like the CUBES strategy.

Just watch out for shaking hands, we have to rethink our teaching strategies when it comes to touch and hygiene. Even though I clean my cards often, I don't feel comfortable sharing obects or letting students shake hands as part of the lesson for the immediate future.
Unfortunately as teachers we are held accountable for our students' health.
