Paper tape will shrink and dry tighter to the wall if you let it dry fully before coating.... wet mud over wet tape allows it to soak up more water and swell...
That's what I was taught, and it makes sense.

I’ve used mesh tape for everything from patches to mudding my entire basement and have never had a single issue. The paper in my 2 year old house has needed to be redone twice by “professionals”. I prefer the mesh because it resists cracking so much better and the risk of bubbling is next to zero.

Much respect to yung brothas being prt of a dying trade that we used to be heavily proud of. Blaq drywall finishers are plenty down south n the east coast. When i moved out west (PNW) we were far and few. Most blaq drywall finishers were 2nd gen. Either our dads, uncles, or cousins taught them, and we learned it from them. I was on a all blaq crew and sometimes other crews weren't so welcoming while others embraced us and treated us as family to the trade. Its an art that i fell in love with after time. Always hated sanding tho. 😂💯

fiberglass tapes are good indeed.the last one u did ignore i did use it on my first dyrwall build.its strong but need to use more mud.also if u have bigger holes its ok but not made for drywalls.
