Don’t make the same mistake a lot of potential buyers make. The new iPad Pro and MacBook Pro - both rock the M2 chip. And while there is a lot of overlap in terms of capabilities - there are some very specific reasons why one is better than the other. So let’s talk about the price of both devices, which is more portable, and the display quality. What about the typing experience on the M2 ipad Pro and the M2 MacBook Air - which is better? We’ll compare the camera and speakers, processing power and multitasking. And finally we’ll see how battery life, the ports and wireless connectivity stack up. So which is better? The M2 iPad Pro or the M2 MacBook Air?

I watch this entire video and still have no idea what “DON’T DO IT!!!!” if referring to. Don’t do what?

I have M1 models of both. I find myself using the iPad way more than the MBA. One thing that is nice on note taking (not using handwriting as mine looks like chicken scratch) is the ability to take photos of the presentation you are attending and embed it right in the note with continuing to take notes. Hard to do that with the MBA

What's up everyone?! I hope this comparison of the M2 iPad Pro and the M2 MacBook Air was helpful. Did I cover what you wanted to know? What else did you want to see or learn about?

I admit that I use my M2 iPad 12.9 mostly for media consumption and that screen is gorgeous. I also have the magic keyboard which makes it a more versatile device. I also use it with OneNote for note taking during work meetings.

A hybrid OS on the ipad that would allow to use MacOS software on it, would make it the perfect device for me.

Good comparison video for many of us who want to make this decision.

You didn't really mention file handling. Moving and copying files on/to/from an iPad is more difficult and less reliable than on a MacBook Air.

It would be cool to see you do a review on the iPad Pro with a Google sheets and being able to use the tools on the iPad versus the MacBook!

Money is no problem but the iPad’s Magic Keyboard has no business being by that expensive, and I have one. I’d like to see what about it makes it $350… lol

I use both macbook air and ipad pro m2 but I eventually shifted to my ipad just because how easy it fits in with my day to day work and other tasks.

Great analysis. Thorough and enjoyable. I have an M2 MacBook Air and old Gen 2 iPad, wanting to upgrade to iPad Pro 11". I use the iPad when travelling for YouTube, Netflix, movies, journal articles and reading, but am hearing impaired—not many reviews consider the challenges of accessibility.

In Europe, at least in Italy where I live, the M2 macbook air base model starts at €1529 ($1637) on the Apple store! I managed to pick up the 512gb model with a 20% discount but still, the price hike in the EU is absurd. I know many people who are turning away from Apple products in Europe because the pricing has just got ridiculous.

I’m currently using an older iPad Air and experimenting with it being my daily driver and see how long I last without touching my MacBook Pro 15inch 2018. The great thing about the M chip iPads is stage manager, which I rolled my eyes at at first, but it’s come a long way and with iPadOS 17 you basically can move multiple windows around at once on your display freely, currently you can only have 4 on the display at once but you can have multiple stages kinda like Mission Control on the Mac, but I reckon that will increase pretty soon.

So far the iPad has been great, you can still get from A to B it’s just done a bit differently and once you adjust to it, it’s actually a really great piece of tech.

I'm lucky enough to have the M2 MBA (8GB/512GB) and the 12.9" iPad Pro M1 5G.
I bought the MBA to replace my iPad Pro, but despite having both of them to hand, when I need a mobile device, its the iPad Pro I pick up every time. Despite the frustrations of iPadOS. For file management on the iPad, I find File Browser incredibly useful, and I have a TS3+ TB3 dock that I can use with both of them.
I honestly thought I would use the MBA more than the iPP but that hasnt proved to be the case, somehow the iPP seems more robust in the Masgic Keyboard when chucked in my backpack.

You can prevent an iPad Pro with Magic Keyboard from tilting over when using on a lap or bed by just putting the screen down to touching the base - so like a MacBook screen. It is quite stable. I have a 14 inch MacBook Pro and M2 12.9 inch iPad Pro and to me I use the iPad for most things because of the pencil for notes. I also switch the iPad to portrait for video calls.

In Brazil the iPad 12, 9 base model without Apple Pencil and Magic Keyboard costs R$13.299(US$4.242, 38), apple products are very expensive here.

I was the same. Got the m1 when it came until last week and decided to get iPad Pro 11inch m2 and have had a blast. Plus all the apps you can play with controller and move around with it much easier.

UK - I sold my 2018 12.9" iPad Pro and got the M2 MacBook Air 512Gb SSD version. No contest. The Mac is far better for my uses. Larger screen and I can now do basic things on Excel that I couldn't do with it on the iPad 'supposedly' Pro. The refresh rate makes no difference to me. I still use an iPhone 12 Pro Max so the 120 Hz vs 60Hz is BS for my uses. Do I miss the iPad Pro? Yes I do. Touchscreen and Apple Pencil is very useful. But the overall feel of it on my knee is not as good as the Mac. Overall I do everything on my lap so the Mac is far better and the fact I don't touch the screen means it stays cleaner for far longer. On the iPad, if they want to call something 'Pro' then it needs to be able to do basic Excel things that it just cannot do. I also had the 2018 version and the battery was hammered too.
512Gb Mac was £1, 549 and if I wanted the M2 iPad Pro, Magic Keyboard, etc £1, 978 so there was no way I was buying yet another keyboard for that. The Mac is overpriced but the iPad Pro, absolutely mental.

I will say, if you’re using an external monitor most of the time, you may not care about the refresh rate of the 13’ M2 MacBook Air. It will be able to put out a higher refresh rate on an external display.

One of the biggest reason i switched from a 6th gen ipad to a 2017 macbook pro and that is working with linux terminal and i use it for worktasks on the go like finanse and writing and a laptop is more versatile for me for light work because all the heavy tasks i use my desktop
