120hz display of the Pro won't cause less battery life. Don't forget it's a variable refresh rate. So it will actually reduce battery consumption.

I’m a journalist and I’ve a 2020 iPad Pro 12.9 with an A12Z and a magic keyboard. It works perfectly well for me as I can edit podcasts with Logic Pro or Ferrite with lots of beautiful audio plugin, news video in 4K with DaVinci Resolve or LumaFusion, edit photos in Raw, study and edit documents with Goodnotes, write pieces with Runestone (i write with Textedit on my Macs since 2009) and so on. I think I’ll not upgrade for now. For me it’s not a matter of hardware: give us a better multitasking and file management.

I actually just went for a 12.9inch M1 iPad Pro. My alternative was the M2 Air. I personally don’t think I’d have been upset with the 60Hz refresh rate of the new air, but the small things like Face ID and the improved speakers is just… worth it, for me at least. The incremental increase in power from the M1 to M2 is going to be hard for me to notice with my usage, I just wanted to be able to hook it up to an external monitor so needed an M chip! Maybe I’ll make a little vacation video from time to time on it, but the seconds I save in rendering vs the money I save now, I’m excited for my new to me, M1 iPad Pro!

Had the 10.5 inch iPad Pro with promotion 256 GB 4 microphones 4 speakers for 7 years paid $800 in November 2017. I never had any issues with it still worked perfectly, but I decided to upgrade so I sold it for $300 with the first generation, Apple Pencil and the logictech keyboard case. I just bought A brand new 12.9 inch iPad Pro with the M2 chip and 256 GB of memory for $890 👈👀at BJ’s last one left. I bought the logictech keyboard combo touch for $129 on Amazon. The XDR screen is excellent compared to the iPad 11 OLED just as good no complaints. HDR is excellent too with SAME 1600 nets of brightness AS THE 11 OLED 🙍‍♂️

M1 iPad Pro owner here. I have 0 reasons to upgrade.

My iPad runs just as smooth as day 1. It’s perfectly fine for procreate and Goodnotes.

I have 0 complaints. The m1 is a beast of a chip. Apple probably regrets going as hard as they did on their first iteration.

a 60hz screen is always a non-starter for me.

Wish the old M2 pro got that landscape camera on the front

Awesome video! Another thing I would like to point out: if you buy from the apple certified refurbished they have already replaced the battery and outer shell, so you don't have to worry about the previous owner's batter care or any scratches. I believe that they also do a full test of all the devices that they are selling and replace any parts that don't work, so its far more trustworthy to buy directly from the apple refurbished than from someone random on ebay or facebook marketplace. Also in their new announcement only M-series chips are supported, so if you want the new update go for an m-series ipad.

Had this dilemma almost got the M2 iPad pro but I’ve been so used to not having pro motion with my iPad mini 5 that I’ve gone with the M2 Air

I recently got an Open Box Excellent condition 12.9" M2 iPad Pro with 256GB storage from Best Buy, for just $772 after taxes. Absolute steal at that price, for what it is (size, miniLED XDR display, storage capacity, and basically brand New condition). The AppleCare even goes til 10 months from when I got it. Way better than getting a stripped-down Air M2.

I got a refurbished M2 Ipad Pro 11inch for 662$ on Amazon. No scratches on screen or body, battery health is at 96%. Loving it so far

I was actually hoping to catch an M2 iPad Pro on sale after the M4s came out. I traded in a previous M1 iPad Pro due to diminished battery performance and got a good rate from Best Buy for it. As the M2 iPad Pros had not yet been reduced for a good deal, I purchased an M2 iPad Air. As soon as my return window closed, the M2 iPad Pros went on sale for essentially the same price as the M2 iPad Airs. I was a bit disappointed at first, but realize that the Air has two additional years of overall modernity and software life even though the devices have the same chip inside. The hardware adjustments, such as the horizontal camera and compatibility with the Apple Pencil Pro may be something that I come to value a year or two down the road. Overall, because of the way that I use my iPad, it probably doesn't matter that much. I was used to using an iPad Pro, but didn't really use it for pro tasks.

If I could do things all over again, I would be fine either way! 😆

🐬 I got my iPad Pro 11'' M2 a couple weeks before the new ones released, and I agree that the screen alone is worth going for this one instead of the new iPad Air!
