What is Pulling Chest? A simple explanation.

Lots of other coaches cloud the definition of "pulling chest" or strain because they don't really understand the cause - so they just guess based on the symptom. Here I give you the simple and easy to understand explanation with a Graphic EQ example.

Just a short video on what "pulling chest" actually is. There are lots of videos on YT about this subject but none of them actually explain what is happening and why and what to do about it.

Very interesting and excellent explanation... Suppose we have two bass baritones singing the same not, say F4. One "pulling" chest and the other not pulling chest. The vocal folds of each would be vibrating at 349 cps. The singer pulling chest would presumably sound strained and not have the overtones... but would the vocal folds look any different compared to the one not pulling chest?

Pretty helpful, thanks man. Is there any way you can do a video actually demonstrating it please? Like a quick lesson to help anyone who needs to be shown how to do it so they can use it in their actual routine when doing vocal warmups? I've been trying to do it on my own but there aren't any videos anywhere demonstrating it physically with the voice from low to high so I don't really fully trust myself you get me?

Hi Kevin. Been wondering why for instance the low notes resonate in the throat and the high notes resonate higher in our head. Why don't they all resonate in the throat, or in the head.

hi Kevin, would it be right that the whistle voice isnt part of a connected voice and is actually a manipulation of the cords or throat as at my highest I can't go any higher unless squeezing a vocal fry to produce squeak notes

Middle C is 261 hz. But it is a cool analogy.
