Bear in mind that your degree does not have to match your actual field to be very useful. I have a physics degree and have found that it does in fact have S tier value, even if the job in question is not in physics. If you have one of the S/A/B tier degrees, employers will assume that you can handle a wide range of things and learn anything you need to know.

Did anyone else spend the whole video hoping one of the degrees would make E Tier?

Graduated w/ bachelor’s degree in psychology and found the versatile knowledge useful for getting in the doorway of good, high-paying jobs. Now going back for microbiology as a passion-project. If you pursue a BS/BA in psychology for the sake of entering the field of psychology…. F tier. But using it in marketing? HR? Organizational business? Even some health care/case management positions… that’s some damn expansive opportunity right there.

The race of the bachelor degrees 😃 I keep being told that physics is a useless degree from my mom, but everyone else, including my professors and engineering students, disagree. Guess that means I should keep going! 😌

Reminder for arts students like music, drama etc... Unless if you are going into teaching at a school or university, you're NOT at school for the degree. The biggest benefit of majoring in these programs is being surrounded by constant opportunities and making connections into the industry.

I’m fascinated in Philosophy getting a C tier while Art and Music get F tier. For most of the video I found myself liking the F tier majors while agree with the practicality of S tier degrees. As a Religious Studies degree holder I feel that a lot of F tier degree do hold an intrinsic value. Great list overall and enjoyed the video.

Last summer I was in the process of transferring from community college to university to pursue a degree in Philosophy. Your videos were the reality check that I needed. I decided to stay at community college and work toward a degree in Engineering, and I couldn’t be happier. Thank you, Shane.

yay i’m in C tier! this is a win for philosophy majors who constantly get told our degree is worthless

Thank you always for an insightful video! Could you please do a video on designing (i.e. UX design, UI design, product design, etc.) in the tech field? I'd love to know more about these career options and things like salary, possible majors, degrees, future outcomes, etc.

Glad my IT major is in the S tier. Another note is that I have to gain work experiences, certifications, and build portfolios from personal projects in order to be competitive in the field. It’s an easy major as it requires fair amount of math and business classes. Overall, it’s a versatile and flexible degree. I am glad that I have no regrets as I have networked with few local tech organizations if they will intern me.

I think I'm fortunate to have my passion also linked to being practical. I'm planning on majoring in Computer Engineering. As you often say Shane, going to college is an investment for your future (right, right you don't NEED to go to college but still).

Along with that, I'm very interested in film and technologically advancing the video production aspect of film. But majoring in video production isn't exactly as practical. Major in Computer Engineering and then minor in something else I love and have a passion for.
Thanks a lot!

Wow, so many things are properly ranked! Because I studied geography, C tier is pretty accurate, but if you focus on geographic information systems and cartography to create map and do spatial analysis, it could rank to B tier. Geology, heck yeah, natural resources and environmental hazards are inevitable! Geological engineering is what I should've majored!

Switched from IS to Geology and was glad to see they were both high on the tier list!

It's a shame creative studies are looked down upon so much in today's society

A Geography degree video would be awesome. There is actually quite a broad array of careers you can go into with geography you can do do city planning, Environmental science type stuff, surveying and go into the technology field with the use of GIS. Im doing a double major computer science and Geography to go into being a GIS developer. The jobs for Geography degrees might not be as great as engineering degrees but still a wide array of cool stuff you can do and surveying is actually pretty well paid.

I've never been more hurt like this, as an art and humanities student. From a pov of a liberal arts major we choose this mainstream, because we had guts 😎🤣 to look at career dead in the eye and say, "is that all you got?"

Sadly: that's all it has. 😭
