Professor David Nutt is the Edmond J Safra chair in Neuropsychopharmacology at Imperial College London and director of the Neuropsychopharmacology Unit in the Division of Brain Sciences there. He is the chairman and founder of Drug Science, patron of 'My Death My Decision’, and is the author of 'Drugs Without the Hot Air: Minimising the Harms of Legal and Illegal Drugs’ and ‘Drink? The New Science of Alcohol and your health’. He has been featured on Newsnight, the Institute of Art and Ideas, Ross Kemp TV, London Real, Tedx, Triggernometry and Novara Media.

David will be joined in conversation today by Will Self - award-winning author and Professor of Contemporary Thought at Brunel University. My jaw hit the floor. Assuming he has taken all of them, is Will suggesting that all of his experience with drugs such as mdma, ketamine, dmt, lsd and psilocybin has been negative? I particularly cant see how an mdma experience could have been negative. I'm also very intrigued by the analogy of working with a headlamp when Dr nutt could just turn on the lights, what exactly did he mean by that?
