In this video, we show the basics of cryptology (cryptology = cryptography and cryptanalysis).

This video here gives an introduction to the terms (cryptographic) keyspace and keyspace size. We have a look at different classic and modern ciphers and their corresponding keyspaces and how to compute these. Also, we explain why cryptologists like to use powers of two to show the keyspace size. In CrypTool 2, we have a look how brute-force search times change when we add additional bits to modern cryptographic ciphers.
