What, a whole land cruiser under 2k USD???? Here in my place, you won't buy a rotten frame + papers for less than 5000 USD, and can't expect anything that can start and move on its own for less than 10 000... I mean, guys, a used engine alone is worth more than $2000. You were basically gifted with that car :(

280k miles and sitting 2 years and starts right up, and no warning lights. Amazing

I hope you all make video updates if not a series on the progress of this vehicle.

The Hoovies Garage tee-shirt is yet another crossover with that channel. This is like the third one.

I lucked out and got a 96 triple locked for $1000 from an elderly woman who wanted it gone after her husband passed. I offered to give her much more and she said, “get that ugly thing off my lawn.” California, passed smog, leaked oil like I owned OPEC, and needed a new starter but has been a fun project. An incredibly lucky find, oh…no rust, probably because it had a lot of oil everywhere.

I’m the original owner of a 2000 Land Cruiser exactly like this one (white/champagne) with beige leather. Fully loaded. It has 72k miles on it and it is without question the best built car I have ever owned. In 22 years, I’ve done brakes once, oil, filters, fluids, tires and a few batteries. It runs and drives exactly the same way today as it did 22 years ago. I will never, ever part with it even if I don’t drive it daily. The only downside is the 13-17mpg.

Awesome rig. Good luck with the build!

LC prices have gone crazy here in Australia also. In fact the whole used car market has. I could easily sell my LC 100 turbo diesel for more than I paid for it 10 years ago.

No worries about scratches, or minor off road damage.

That looks like an early 2000's Holiday Rambler diesel pusher in the background. I owned one and recently sold it for a new class B Ford Transit camper van. Mine had a 24v 5.9l Cummins engine that was no slouch getting going and got 12mpg. Not bad for a 26k lb coach...

280k miles and sitting for 2 years and it has less warning lights than my 6 months old Jeep

Glad to see that Land Cruiser will be back on the road where it should be. Thieves are disgusting and can destroy a vehicle in no time. When our 60 series Land Cruiser was stolen, in 2017, it showed up 8 months later in Los Angeles. It's back in Colorado and about a month away from completion of body work, paint and reassembly.
That 100 series has nothing in it compared to ours.

So as best I recall, the list looks like this:
(Approximately)
7 plastic bags of clothes (30 gallon size)
Three sleeping bags
12-18 backpacks, most full of pencils, colored, etc. No identification in them.
12 or more small purses
10 plus handbags  and satchels (no ID)
One compressor (large, dual tanks, again, not working)
One electric guitar (not functioning, missing strings, etc.)
One tambourine
Two generators (one 5300 Wts and a second 3200 Wts). One ran but it didn’t product electricity, the other didn’t run.)
One lawyer case (no identification)
Four extension cords (cut up)
One non-functioning floor jack
Ten locks and bike locks
Four skateboards, a long board, like four feet and another short board
Numerous batteries
Electronic “boom box”
One gas propelled bike
Two mini-bikes (on top to vehicle)
Four 10-speed bikes
One wheelbarrow (four wheels)
40 plus cell phones (no iPhones), mostly in backpacks and laying around in vehicle, all broken with cracked screens. Lots of various cables.
Dog food and poop
Dead dog
One potential firearm (turned in to police. It was wrapped in electrical tape, so I couldn’t tell for sure what it was.)
Maybe 50 keys
One panel light on top of vehicle
One cash dollar and some loose change

Wait, you can buy a car for less than $10k? The heck is going on here, even if it needs repairs. Prices have gone nuts since the cash for clunkers put me out of business flipping used $500 clunkers, putting about $800 in parts and labor, then sell for $3000.

A lot of your parts can be found used on Ebay. McGeorge Toyota online parts will be cheaper than any dealership, if...they have parts for that year and model Land Cruiser.

I have a similar story with my '03 100 series. My buddy GAVE it to me after it sat for 2 years. My tow truck driver wanted to try and start it with his jump pack. It started right up and he drove it off the flat bed! A week of cleaning and new carpet, battery, ARB bumper, o2 sensor, new gas tank, tank skid plate, straps, and she's great!
