When I was evaced out of Iraq I woke up on a stretcher on a C130, there were dozens of us and it was hot and smelled like death. I was on the bottom rack and a pretty blonde nurse was weeping over me checking on my dressings. I looked around and I saw another nurse working on another guy and she was crying too. There are dozens of people I owe my life to that we’re “just doing their jobs”, the evac ride home with these nurses working non stop until Germany I will never forget. Just incredible dedication.

I wasn't with the 160th but i was a Navy crewchief/doorgunner supporting JSOC in Iraq. Flew quite a few joint missions with the 160th and the Air Force 20th SOS. Our entire purpose in life was to get ground operators home. Best job I ever had

January 3rd, 2010, medics from Callsign PEDRO dropped onto a hot HLS in Helmand province to pick up our British KIA and one WIA. The Pavehawk took 38 rounds to the fuselage. If you pop smoke and need a rescue, those US pilots will straight up come and fucking get you. Much love and respect to those Valkyries. - a British Soldier.

Nothing is more humbling than hearing these brave heroes regard their rescuers as heroes! These brave souls put it all on the line each & every day for all of us, the least we can do is say thank you! Thank you Sir & God Bless you & your family👍🏻❤️🙏🏻

My father is retired US Navy. He’s not a big guy size wise, about 5, 10 160 lbs. He’s a man of very few words so when he talks everyone listens. He’s also a retired Navy rescue swimmer. He spent the last half of his career in CH-46 helos and was in addition to being a SAR swimmer he was a crew chief. My dad is now in his 80’s but he still gets a few calls a year from guys he rescued during his career. Ask him about them he gets quiet but even after all those years he remembers their names, what aircraft he was on, who his pilots were and what the weather was. He doesn’t say anything about the guys he couldn’t get to.
I’m so proud of my dad AD1NAC RET GENE
