In this video I show a "trick" to get the "wings" inside the dry-wall to retract (at 2:00) so you can get the pop-toggle-type anchor out of the wall as cleanly as possible.

I made a mistake also and I was in a state of panic. Thank you for your video. It really relieved my anxiety. Thanks.

I tried the drilling technique mentioned in the comments but couldn't get it to work for me. Your method worked great and the hole was basically the same size as the original one; so no extra damage. Thanks for the tip and vid!

Thanks for this! I use these anchors all the time and never had a clean way to remove other than drilling them out which tends to leave a bigger hole than you started with

I love these anchors, I’ve found that a quick shot with a sharp putty knife shaves the head off, leave the carcass to support the sparkle ?

I drill it out. I use a bit two sizes smaller than the size used to install the toggle. The toggle collapses and I pull it out, leaving a hole no bigger than the size used to install the toggle--You can reuse the same hole to install a new toggle incase something happened to the original e.g. poor install, product failure etc. etc.

Is it OK to reuse it after you get it out that way?

This method failed on three Togglers in a hollow door. I tried different screws (lengths; full thread and partial) but none seemed to catch the inside to pull it back. Perhaps, 1/8" thick material is not deep enough to retain it in the insertion configuration. I gave up and pulled each out as much as possible then cut one side. Half the Toggler came out and the other half broke off.

I would think you could just drill it out, using a slightly smaller drill than the 5/16” drill that was used to INSTALL the pop-toggle

Or you could just get a drill bit and drill off the front flange and push it into the wall

C-Can you do this with a manual screwdriver? 🫠
