Mine was the screw the head off the top kind. It's seam was invisible. Trying to unscrew it was so tight that I questioned whether it could be that type. I put my cell phone on video close to under the lip with good lighting and rotated the drain. No sign of any screw/etc. Tried the top again and put some muscle into it and it started to unscrew. I wouldn't have put that much force if not for your video. Frustrating secrets revealed. Your video is very good and very much appreciated. Thank you for making it and sharing it. Most videos assume that it unscrews counter clockwise or has a screw. I think your video is the first I saw the solution as a possibility.

Nope I haven't looked at just about every video and it's still not come out that part won't come off I have been turning and turning and turning and turning and turning and turning

I suspect mine has the screw underneath the nub on top. Since the nub won't turn and I have no way to grip the round base, I guess I'm screwed.

This helped me so much. Turns out the drain was clogged with suction cups that broke off the shower mat.
