So, in this video, not only am I showing you the new Gmail layout, but I’m also going to tell you how to get the new Gmail design if you don’t have it yet. Spoiler: YES, the new Gmail layout works on free accounts. Plus, I’ll show you how to change Gmail to classic view in case you want to go back to the way things were.

I'm not a fan of the new view, for one very specific reason. I use themes in my Gmail accounts, to have a background wallpaper picture, and with the new version the inbox isn't transparent, there's a grey gradient that covers the background wallpaper - even when there's nothing in the inbox. I haven't yet found a way to turn this off, so I've been avoiding the new version. Today my primary gmail account was forcibly moved to the new version - no option to turn it off. I'm sure my others are soon to follow. 🙄

The "Show/Hide main menu" button is useful to create a more compact view of all the email, especially on a smaller screen laptops. As always, your videos provide useful google tips. Thank you.

Hi Tasia, How can I force my different emails to go to different categories? for example, all social go to social and all primary goes to primary? Appreciate let me know if you have a video on this matter.

I don't understand filing or retrieving old emails. Do folders work, do you use tags? I seem to have 'misplaced' all my important emails that I thought I put in folders for later viewing. Help!

Is their anyway to connect Gmail with other Email accounts (Outlook & ProtonMail) to notify my Gmail account when I have email from those accounts or send the emails from those account to Gmail, In stead of having to check each email account separately?
