What is UCAN?

Generation UCAN is a commercialized version of a processed form of corn starch that was originally developed to treat a rare genetic disorder called glycogen storage disease type 1. UCAN has since been adapted for runners and other endurance athletes and boasts a unique “SuperStarch” formula.This slower-burning formula is meant to replace traditional gels and carbohydrate drinks because it releases carbohydrates over several hours and thus puts you in a metabolic state to burn more fat and be less reliant on simple sugars.

Ran 12 hour run last week. Only ucan. I am a fat adapted keto, Heart Rate runner 62 yr felt great had fun all day 52 miles.

I have used UCAN off and on for a few years. I struggle with the amounts and timing, and also how to carry it in long runs and marathons for refueling during the event. In theory I love the idea of it and will check out the calculator to see if that helps. Thank you for the in-depth review and explanation of this product.

I'm just a very low carber to keep my BS/INSULIN low. But I struggle with low energy most days. Feeling lethargic. Heavy legs. Starch like potato sort me, but that is spiking my BS too much. So I hope Ucan will sort me. Is it avl in South Africa?
