The body doesn't know if your lifting a soda can or a barbell.. so you just need progressive overload. Lift until the reps reach over the number of reps chosen then increase the weight.

My opinion, lift as heavy as you can, 8-10 reps, try to lift heavier for the last set, if you succeed, start with that next time
