The lumbar packs that created the category back in the early 80's, the Day & Tour have become icons of outdoor stores and staples of gear closets. Free your shoulders and hike with a lumbar pack, and you will find yourself grabbing your Mountainsmith lumbar pack daily.

Though the design honors the 35+ year history of this waist pack and has not changed much in shape, modern features make this version of the Day & Tour the best yet. Features now include a tuck away waist belt for messenger style carry, removable shoulder strap, traditional front panel bungee, Strapette compatibility (sold separately), interior tablet sleeve, smart phone compatible waist belt pocket, ridged EVA back panel padding with stash pocket, side water bottle holders, hanging inner sanctum pocket, zippered front panel pocket with key clip, bottom compression straps, and a headphone port. We have heard this product used for just about anything. Where will this fanny pack take you?

OMG he's right about how long they last. My daughter got one of those when she was in college. She graduated in 1994 and she's used it consistently almost daily ever since then. And it's still looking great. Little dirty looking but in good condition. That would make that pack 25 years old. I got myself the Tour pack last year and I've been using it regularly for biking. It's so comfortable. Usually with my regular backpack I want it off me as soon as possible but with this lumbar pack no such problem. It actually feels like it supports my core. The only complaint I have about it, is that the bottle pockets are so small I never use them for bottles--it's too dang hard to get the bottles in and out of the pocket. It does look like they might have changed the design, though because I'm seeing draw strings instead of the overly tight elastic that I have on mine.

Bless you for adding the padded neoprene tablet slot. I always have an ungodly large phone and it's nice to have a dedicated place I can keep it and protect it without having to carry it in a separate, dedicated, enclosed case.

Still have my Cairn. After almost two decades, still holding up and the only Mountainsmith lumbar pack to have an organizer rather than just one big front pocket. Not even the Backcountry Office had one. Carries my laptop and other essentials to and from work every day, with the occasional weekend trip. But I'm afraid that if a seam or zipper does fail, there's no way to get it fixed, other than maybe looking for a used replacement on eBay. Wish it hadn't been discontinued so quickly. As comfortable as lumbar packs are, I will never go back to a messenger bag or backpack for my commute.

I've been using your older model of the Tour TLS daily for nine or ten years as a "man purse". It's been great, but starting to wear out. The new features on your current model look great, but the mesh side pockets are a deal breaker as they won't stand up to the wear and tear of daily use carrying a water bottle.

Please make this pack, but with durable side pockets! I use a stainless 750cc water bottle, and the cordura side pockets not only give a full bottle the support it needs, but also makes removal and reinsertion an ease!

Add a durable water bottle sleeve on this pack, and it would be perfect!

I got one of these as a gift. The shoulder strap is extremely large and uncomfortable.. and it only comes with one. you need to buy a second shoulder strap separately. It has a lot of storage space, but the pack is too tall for where the waste band attached causing it to be floppy. If you tighten the side diagonal straps, then the pack becomes curved and uncomfortable that way.

I feel like this tries to be too many things. It wants to be a backpack and a lumbar pack, but ends up being not very good at either. This is really only for people that need more space, but really want to avoid a full backpack.

Why did you ditch the Molle on the new bags? For that I’m buying old stock or used.

The tablet sleeve is not needs and I wish it was removable as it is just bulk and wasted space. Or atleast make the neoprene removable. Also as in most packs I own I make small modes and have had to do it to my new Day to make it more practical.
