I have a Corso, and I shouldn’t have got him. Now we are involved with a fulltime trainer, I took time off school to commit myself to training and we are doing so well! But every single person I meet I tell “you don’t want a Corso, you don’t need a Corso.” I major in animal behavior and am a full time stay at home dog mom, and I can barely do enough. Corsos aren’t pets, they aren’t “fun”, they are glorious and awe inspiring and NOT for the standard person. People are always surprised when I don’t support Corso ownership, and they look at my weird when I express that getting him was a poor decision. But my job as a Corso owner is to be that person that hands you your reality check, like I wish someone had done for me.

This is not to say I don’t love my boy! I do! I’ve mad a multi thousand dollar commitment and the next 10 years to him and I love him more then myself. But he was not the right breed for me, and I am not ashamed to say I messed up.

Do your research, then do more. Then ask yourself do I really want the worst case scenario of this dog breed? Because it could go that way.

I imagine the day I am worthy of a Cane Corso, the Saint of Dogs will appear before me, have me kneel, and present me with one of these beautiful, noble beasts.

Which my husband will promptly turn said noble beast into a couch-potato goober.

My 7 month old bitch isn't for a first time owner either.. the Borador is hard work and is a breed that *MUST* be crated whenever you leave the house. The Border Collie in them causes them to become destructive and there's no way to train it out of them unless they stop with age. I should have gone full Labrador as they appear to be quite chilled most of the time, but my girl came from an unplanned litter that one of my friends had. Their Collie now goes to a different family members house whenever their Lab is in heat.

Bite force means nothing, take a look at the dogue de Bordeaux it has double the bite force of a pit bull and recorded bites even from intruders are ridiculously low
