After hurricane Michael when we were without power and water for a month, the red cross truck & salvation army food trucks were a lifesaver. The red cross truck went through the neighborhoods like an ice cream truck giving out hot plates of food and water. It was a much needed relief for us. Praying for everyone who has been affected by this hurricane.

Everyone saying "oh well, they should have prepped!" .... This is not Florida. It has NEVER flooded like this here, and we are not used to hurricanes or tropical storms bringing this much intensity this far inland. And none of the weather organizations predicted THIS level of flooding. Even if they had, this is one of the poorest regions in the entire country, so only so much could have been done to begin with. I guarantee that almost none of these people probably had flood insurance. So please, stop judging these residents for being "unprepared" and have some compassion.

FEMA are not first responders. They coordinate with the first responder, but don't immediately descend for the search and recovery.

Same folks demanding for FEMA often vote against funding it.

Can we stop blaming everyone and just take care of the people. People are fighting over politics when that is not the focus. People are in danger they need help. These are Americans. We take care of all of our people, not just the ones who agree with our choice of president.

Federal help WILL NOT be available for at least 72 hours after a disaster. Takes time to get the resources to the affected areas.

The government isn't going to save you. It's up to YOU for survival. Learn from these people. Plan and Prepare.

Never expect the government to be there on time to help you you have to be self-sufficient and self reliant in emergency situations. That's a hard lesson to learn.

Just thoughts and prayers for North Carolina

Thoughts and prayers to the communities affected by this storm, but let's not pretend this was unavoidable. If corporations and governments took the calls and warnings of scientists over the past couple of decades seriously, instead of antagonizing and marginalizing them for the sake of profits and power, perhaps at worst we'd be better prepared for this storm.

I hate to see my countrymen and women suffer like this. It really pains me.

Who are the officials? This is fairly typical of a massive flooding event. Those waiting had a week to plan. Your local government is responsible for notifying your state representatives who then contact the Feds. Local governments should have been better prepared and ready to serve its communities.

Shocking. Who would have thought that Helene would have gone so far inland. Praying for everyone.
