*** THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU OVER-FILL ENGINE OIL!! Mechanic FAILS!

Customer came in, worried about the engine being blown. Was smoking real bad, and it didnt smell like coolant. JUST had an oil change done at, guess who, Jiffy Lube!!!!
Come to find out, the oil was overfilled by about 3 quarts, making it smoke like a steam train!!
Drained out oil, swapped filter, check spark plugs for fouling, listen for noises, then made goofy video, and test drove on highway to help the catalytic converters recover & burn off oil before returning to owner. Engine is back to normal.... lucky. Cheers

I prefer to run my engine dry. No oil at all. Don’t have to worry about overfilling. Keeps the exhaust bearings from overheating too.

Great demonstration. I'm going to overfill my engine now because that smoke looks cool when you go vroom vroom.

I overfilled my engine oil AND my auto trans fluid by a quart or more when I changed both. Not intentionally, but I got distracted and it happened. After watching a # of these alarming vids, I siphoned out the excess from the fill tubes and feel much better. I certainly will be more careful next

This is what happened to my mums car. So my mum brought a car but she never drove it much since she drove company car. She gave the car to me and I noticed that once you accelerate, white smelly smoke came out. Went to the garage, turns out there was too much engine oil, they drained the engine oil but said some smoke will come out but it will eventually go away. I just drove the car, doind 50+ miles plus, no smoke so relieved this was sorted out. I went to the garage and they said it was a turbo or injector problem, will take £600+ to fix, but a £10 job of removing the oil fixed it. It could have been much worse but thankfully, managed to get this sorted before it screwed up my engine.

I had a similar problem now with my VW 2013 CC. Hopefully too much oil is my problem. Waiting for a tow right now😒 Smoke was pouring out way more than the car you showed. I pray it's simple to fix because like many I can't afford it right now.

Jiffy lube sounds like bad news... When the previous owners had my old car, Jiffy lube also stripped the threads on the oil pan so they plugged it from inside the pan and told the previous owners they'd have to get a whole new oil pan. so whenever it was due for an oil change, I'd just siphon the oil out from the dipstick port lol 😆 but still.. not too impressed with jiffy lube.

I filled a 6 liter Volkswagen to 12 without realizing and fixed it by draining and filling to right level and then letting the car idle for about 30 min to an hour. The smoke dies out in about an hour. It was a Volkswagen Tiguan. No codes yet but the engine shook/rattled when I started it up both times then mellowed out. (If engine is shaking. Turn off vehicle btw)

Lmfao!!! Got off work, bought 3 quarts and put in it. Surprised I made it out of the gas station. Went straight back to work to take a look. Sure enough I put way too much oil in it. Was tired and didn't bother to check. Such a nub lol

I get adding 1 quart or less of oil by accident but 3? You look up how much oil your car takes then add that then you have to keep checking and rechecking adding little by little. Its like they just took 7 quarts and dumped it right in.

I did this in a fiat 500l, the engine blew and the oil came squirting out the air conditioning vents.

It will always surprise me how many people don’t know how to check their oil.

Jiffy lube takes down another one. They once emptied my differential thinking it was the oil plug. How the F...

Jiffy lube is good for oil change. So is Wal-Mart. I take my 2019 Supra there all the time

It seems to be common for dealership services to use a predetermined quantity without ever checking the dipstick. I often notice slightly higher oil levels above the full mark on the dipstick...about a millimeter over.

"Too much oil can ruin your engine" Let me fire this thing up and show you... Hmm. Engine sounds fine, no knocking... Let me just rev the fuck outta it to see if we can fuck something up! 😁

My wife has a 2007 Nissan Altima and that thing sounds like a diesel lol it's still drivable she drives it everyday, when I was changing the coil packs out there was oil down in one of the spark plug holes 😬 it's been a while ago so I can't remember what I did but I remember spending a bunch of money at the parts store to get parts to fix it . But now like I said perfect description is it sounds like a diesel and it's hard to get the codes because the check engine light has been on ever since she bought the car so it could be a million different things that pop up . But off the top of somebody's head where do y'all think the issue sounds like??? Edit: update I change the plugs and it fixed it temporarily, oil is coming in through the o-rings but you have to buy the whole damn valve cover because they're built in 🤦🏻‍♂️ with gas and $5 a gallon and inflation making everything go up I have the money for that so I just put some Lucas leak stop it will stop a leak from wherever it's coming from that stuff works miracles
