Excel SUM and SUMIF Formula in Excel

Learn how to use the SUM function in Microsoft Excel to add values. See how you can add individual values, cell references or ranges or a mix of all three. Also learn how to use SUMIF to sum the values in a range that meet criteria that you specify.

=SUM(A2:A10) Adds the values in cells A2:10.

=SUM(A2:A10, C2:C10) Adds the values in cells A2:10, as well as cells C2:C10.

⚡ Quick trick to sum a column in Excel. Place your mouse at the bottom of the list and then press Alt and =. Excel will then automatically sum the cells above.

Hi Kevin, seek your guidance for the following:
how to add or deduct a value in a cell basing on the sign of outcome of subtracting value from previous two cells. Here is an example: A - B = C where A and B are independent positive variables. However, the outcome in Cell C could be positive or negative basing on the values of A and B. Next Step is - C + or - D = E, where C could be a +ve or -ve number. & D is a +ve number. If C is +ve, value in D is to be deducted else value in C is to be added to value to D, which will be populated in Cell E.
