In this Microsoft Excel video tutorial I demonstrate how to calculate a sum of all matches. You might be trying to do this using XLOOKUP, but this is not always the best method. The video explores three completely different scenarios where you need to sum all matches. Each scenario is best served with a different set of functions.

Table of Contents:

00:00 - Introduction
00:18 - Example 1 SUM FILTER or SUMIF
02:25 - Example 2 SUM XLOOKUP
04:19 - Example 3: SUM SUMIF or SUMPRODUCT SUMIF

Hi Chester thanks for that tutorial, for the second example what if let’s say Barbara had two separate columns, how would you then sum this up with x look up? I am at a spot where my look up value occurs more than once and x look up only looks up the first one it comes across.Thank you

Super helpful. However, I cannot get this to work when I have an array of values to sum. For example, in your Example 1 if you had multiple columns of scores or in your Example 2 if you had numerous additional rows with each sales period occurring multiple times. Am I in need of a different function?
